Through community engagement, health advocacy, and empowerment programs, we continue to promote equity, amplify voices, and drive meaningful change for women everywhere.

Knowledge Today Prevents Risk Tomorrow

For many families in Northern Nigeria, conversations about sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) are still treated as something that should not be spoken about openly. Mothers often feel shy or uncomfortable discussing topics like menstruation, relationships, family planning, or personal safety with their daughters. As a result, many young people grow up without clear guidance about their bodies, their health, and their rights.

When knowledge is replaced by silence, young people are left to learn from misinformation, peers, or social media. This can lead to confusion, unhealthy relationships, unintended pregnancies, unsafe decisions, and delayed healthcare seeking.

At Voices for Equity and Sustainable Development Initiative (VESDI), we believe that knowledge is power. Our new initiative, “SRHR Knowledge and Justice”, creates safe spaces for learning and dialogue, connecting youth, parents, and community leaders.

Through peer-to-peer education, community forums, and digital campaigns, we aim to break taboos, challenge misinformation, and empower informed decision-making.

Let’s normalize these conversations and build healthier, safer communities.

Launch of Voices for Equity and Sustainable Development Initiative (VESDI)

Voices for Equity and Sustainable Development Initiative (VESDI), a youth-led advocacy and community development organization, is proud to announce its official launch.

Founded on the principle that no one should be left behind, VESDI is committed to advancing equitable access to health, quality education, gender inclusion, climate resilience, and sustainable development in underserved communities.

Operating at the intersection of grassroots engagement and policy advocacy, VESDI seeks to amplify marginalized voices, strengthen local capacity, and promote inclusive systems that uphold dignity, opportunity, and justice.

“Equity must move from conversation to action,” said the Founder of VESDI.

“Our work is rooted in community realities and guided by a vision of inclusive, sustainable development where every individual has the opportunity to thrive.”

VESDI will focus on:
• Health equity and community based health advocacy.

• Inclusive and quality education.

• Gender equality and women’s leadership.

• Climate action and environmental sustainability.

• Youth empowerment and civic engagement.

Through strategic partnerships, advocacy campaigns, capacity building initiatives, and community driven interventions, VESDI aims to contribute meaningfully to national and global development priorities, including the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

As the organization begins its work, VESDI invites partners, stakeholders, volunteers, and development actors to collaborate in building equitable systems and sustainable futures.

Welcome to Voices for Equity and Sustainable Development Initiative (VESDI)

Today, I am beyond excited to share the beginning of a journey that is very close to my heart.

VESDI is not just an organization; it is a voice for those too often unheard, a hand extended to uplift, and a light guiding community toward equity, health, education, gender inclusion, and sustainable development.

I still remember walking through communities, hearing stories of mothers struggling to access basic healthcare, girls dreaming quietly of an education they might never get, families feeling the weight of environmental challenges, and yet, amid all this, hope quietly persisted.

Those moments inspired me, fueled my purpose, and reminded me that change starts with listening, empathy, and action.

VESDI is my response to those stories. Through this platform, we aim to amplify voices, create opportunities, and build resilient communities where everyone especially women, girls, and the marginalized can thrive.

Together, we will transform stories of struggle into stories of empowerment.
