📢 ANNOUNCEMENT: CALLING ALL YOUTH CLIMATE CHAMPIONS! 🌍

The Abia State Government, in partnership with Youth Climate Nigeria, the Nigeria Nigerian Youth Climate Negotiators Network - NYCNN and other stakeholders, is inviting youth climate activists and contributors to join a state-level youth climate movement.The movement is a youth-driven climate initiative in Abia State, bringing together passionate youth climate activists and contributors. The Abia State Government is calling on young people to actively participate, in partnership with Youth Climate Nigeria, the Nigeria Youth Climate Negotiator Network, and other key stakeholders.

Participants will have the opportunity to work and collaborate at the state level, driving real change through climate education, demonstrations, and outreach to youth and students. By engaging in this movement, young people will also contribute to Abia State’s climate action goals, making a tangible impact in their communities and beyond.

NYCNN leadership in person of Zeenret Zamani proudly represented the network and youth in Jos at the Plateau Inclusive Climate Policy Advocacy Town Hall, hosted by African Centre for Leadership, Strategy and Development and the Side by Side Movement.

The engagement focused on strengthening climate governance, unlocking climate finance in Plateau State, and amplifying the role of Nigerian youth in driving climate action.
NYCNN looks forward to deeper collaboration with the state government and environmental movements, especially in vulnerable farming communities, to advance inclusive and climate-resilient development.

The Nigerian Youth Climate Negotiators Network (NYCNN) is pleased to share a brief update on a recent engagement in the South East, where NYCNN Southeast coordinator Queen Amazu participated in the launch of the Abia State Clean Cooking Plan (ASCCP)—a key climate action initiative aligned with the UNFCCC process and SDG 13 (Climate Action).

This engagement reflects NYCNN’s mandate to serve as a collective voice for young climate negotiators across Nigeria, particularly at the sub-national level. Through the participation of the NYCNN South East Regional Coordination, the engagement strengthened youth representation, policy dialogue, and capacity building around clean cooking, clean energy transition, climate action, and inclusive stakeholder participation.
