Non - Governmental Association For Literacy Support Services Nogalss NOGALSS is the Apex Umbrella Body for all NGOs, & PVOs that are into Mass Literacy delivery in Nig.

NOGALSS is an exclusive Umbrella Association established by NATIONAL MASS EDUCATION COMMISSION (NMEC), Abuja to help NGOs, PVOs and Individuals involved in Non-Formal Education delivery in Nigeria in the following ways:

a) It provides a strong expansive structure down to ward level across Nigeria for all parties interested in the eradication of illiteracy in Nigeria;
b) It offers access to UNESCO

, UNICEF and several International Development Partners who recognize it as the Body assigned by the Federal Government of Nigeria through NMEC to eradicate illiteracy in Nigeria;
c) It certifies all NGOs, PVOs and Individuals involved in Mass Literacy Delivery thus giving them the edge needed to relate effectively with relevant authorities and organizations;
d) It offers the platform for NGOs and Non Profit Organizations as well as individuals to leverage on its awareness and fund-raising activities for their missions;
e) It offers the opportunity to be listed in its National Directory of all functional relevant NGOs that are involved in Literacy Delivery in Nigeria;
f) It provides guarantee to credible member seeking funds from National and International Donors, Government agencies to execute its programs;
g) It provides opportunities for capacity building and skills acquisition for strengthening literacy centres;
h) It will provide a forum for collaborating with Donors and Government Agencies;
i) Its Legal Counsel provides assistance where legal services are required;
j) Its Multipurpose Cooperative Society offers the opportunity for members to get empowerment;
k) Its Welfare Scheme provides succor when unfortunate and unforeseen occurrences take place;
l) Its Consultancy Unit serves as adviser to members on all aspects of running a successful mission;
m) It offers opportunity for active members to participate in lobbying government at all levels to support Mass Literacy, Adult and Non-Formal Education sector in Nigeria.

NMEC HOLDS MINISTERIAL PRESS BRIEFING TO MARK 2024 INTERNATIONAL LITERACY DAY

Abuja, 6th September 2024 – The National Mass Education Commission (NMEC) under the leadership of the Executive Secretary Prof. Simon Ibor Akpama hosted a Ministerial Press Briefing to commemorate the 2024 International Literacy Day, with the theme, " Promoting Multilingual Education: Literacy for Mutual Understanding and Peace" The event, held at the Minister Conference Hall, Federal Ministry of Education, brought together key stakeholders in the education sector to discuss the importance of multilingualism in fostering national peace and development.

The briefing was graced by the Honourable Minister of State for Education Dr. Yusuf Tanko Sununu, along with high-profile attendees including NOGALSS National President, Comrade Noah Emmanuel, UNESCO Head of Office and Representative to Nigeria, Dr. Abdourahane Diallo, and Mrs. Hajarat Titilayo Olayande, Director of the FCT Department for Mass Education.

NOGALSS President, Comrade Noah Emmanuel, echoed this sentiment, pledging his organization’s full support through high-level advocacy and collaboration with NMEC. “NOGALSS is ready to work with all stakeholders to ensure that the vision of multilingual education for all is realized,” he said. He also emphasized the importance of a collective effort in making literacy more accessible to marginalized communities.

Yenagoa, Bayelsa State - *Her Excellency, Dr. Gloria Diri, the First Lady of Bayelsa State,* recently led the *National President of NOGALSS, Comrade Noah Emmanuel*, and his distinguished entourage on an insightful tour of her esteemed Gloria Diri Foundation, which includes the Martha’s Medical Services and Home of the Elderly. The visit provided a unique opportunity for the NOGALSS delegation to engage with the management, staff, and residents at the home, offering a firsthand glimpse into the remarkable work being done by the Foundation.

Accompanying the National President on this important visit were several prominent members of NOGALSS, including the Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Mrs. Faustina Egbunike, the revered "One Man Battalion" Pastor Israel Olajumoke, Dr. Martin Ighoyivwi, Engr. Ferdinand Onoja and other members of the Board of Trustees. NNCAE AND NOGALSS AGREE TO COLLABORATE FOR LITERACY AND EDUCATION ADVANCEMENT AT NOGALSS NATIONAL HEADQUARTERS, ABUJA-FCT

We are pleased to report that the National President of the Nigerian National Council of Education (NNCAE), Prof. Babangida Ladan, recently visited the NOGALSS National Headquarters in Abuja-FCT. During this visit, he engaged in a productive discussion with the National President of NOGALSS, Comrade Noah Emmanuel, focusing on the challenges facing literacy and education in Nigeria and exploring potential partnerships.

The meeting was highly fruitful, and both NNCAE and NOGALSS have agreed to work collaboratively to support the National Commission for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non-Formal Education (NMEC) and strive towards the eradication of illiteracy in Nigeria.
