*Empowering Nigerian Students and Youths For The Development Of The Nation*
*A Pathway to Building Sustainable Development*
Distinguished guests, esteemed leaders, fellow Nigerians, energetic youths and dear students.
I am honored to stand before you today as the Executive President Of The Nigerian Students and Youth Association (NISAYA) Fct Abuja to discuss a crucial topic that affects our collective future: Empowering Nigerian students and youths for the development of the Nation. Our sub-theme, "A Pathway to Building Sustainable Development for the Country and its Citizens," underscores the significance of this discussion.
*The Power of the Youth*
Nigeria's youth population is a demographic dividend that can drive our nation's growth and development. With over 60% of our population under the age of 30, we have a unique opportunity to harness this energy, creativity, and innovation to build a brighter future.
*Challenges Facing Nigerian Youths*
However, our youths face numerous challenges that hinder their potential. These include:
1. Limited access to quality education and skills development
2. Unemployment and underemployment
3. Inadequate mentorship and guidance
4. Social and economic inequalities
5. Limited opportunities for participation in decision-making processes
*Empowerment Strategies*
To address these challenges, we must adopt a multi-faceted approach that empowers our youths with the necessary skills, knowledge, and opportunities. Some strategies include:
1. Education and Skills Development*: Invest in quality education, vocational training, and skills development programs that equip youths with industry-relevant skills.
2. Entrepreneurship and Job Creation*: Encourage entrepreneurship, provide access to funding, and support startups to create jobs and stimulate economic growth.
3. Mentorship and Leadership Development*: Establish mentorship programs that pair experienced professionals with young people, providing guidance and support.
4. Youth Inclusion and Participation*: Ensure youth participation in decision-making processes, promoting their voices and ideas.
5. Access to Resources and Opportunities*: Provide access to resources such as technology, infrastructure, and funding to support youth-led initiatives.
Pathway to Sustainable Development for the Nation and its Citizens.
By empowering our youths, we can unlock a pathway to sustainable development, characterized by:
1. Economic growth and job creation
2. Improved healthcare and well-being
3. Increased access to quality education
4. Enhanced social cohesion and national unity
5. Innovative solutions to national challenges
*Call to Action*
I urge all stakeholders, including government, private sector, civil society, and individuals, to join forces in empowering Nigerian students and youths. Together, we can:
1. Invest in youth development programs
2. Provide opportunities for skills development and entrepreneurship
3. Support youth-led initiatives and projects
4. Foster a culture of mentorship and leadership development
*Conclusion*
Empowering Nigerian students and youths is not just a moral imperative; it's a strategic necessity for our nation's development. Let us work together to build a brighter future for our country and its citizens. Together, we can achieve sustainable development and create a prosperous Nigeria for all.
Thank you.
