A sad story of child molestation by a supposed "uncle"- A Must read by all parents..

Copied:
"My uncle would wait until my parents fell asleep, and then he’d sneak into my room, and abuse me.
My uncle sexually abused me, from age 4 to 13. It started off by him carrying me and holding me by my bottom, to his hands going in my pants and shirt. When it first started, he told me I couldn’t tell anyone because my family would think I was dirty and fast. Me and my siblings were already treated differently, because we were looked at like “ghetto” kids, and I was always looked at like I was to grown for my age. He told me that my mom and dad would want to get rid of me and they wouldn’t believe me, so it had to secret. My uncle would take me for rides and tell me he wanted to teach me how to “drive,” but he would be touching me, and I’d start crying. He would take me shopping to shift my mood, or buy me candy, ice cream etc... At one point he lived with us, and the abuse happed nightly. He would wait for my parents to be asleep, and he would come in my room and touch me. At this time I was 10, and he would tell me he needed to feel me, to make sure I was still innocent. I remember feeling so dirty, and feeling like it wasn’t normal.
I tried to tell my aunt, who I looked up to so much, and she made a joke and said “yeah right, you probably like it.” After that I felt so insecure to ever tell anyone again, so I stayed quiet for 2 more years. When I was 13, my uncle touched me for the last time. We were driving to his friend’s house, to get me a hair cut. This time I told him to stop, or I would tell my mom. He said she would think I was a w***e, and that I was ungrateful for all that he did for me, and then he took me home. When I walked in the door, my mom knew something was up, and she asked me. I told her what he had been doing to me, and she just always kept me away from him after that. Later, as a pregnant adult, I ran into him at a family party and he whispered to me “That I must be having s3x, and that’s why I was pregnant.” I went off on him, and never saw him again. I cut off most of my family, that still associates with him. Til this day, he still hangs around young kids that he claims he’s baby sitting, or are his neighborhood friends … Just recently, I found out that I’m not the only victim of my uncle… my brothers and my mother are too! Oh how I pray and pray, that his darkness one day, comes to light!

At TICSAN, we strongly advise parents to monitor the activities of their child at home.

Don't entrust your girl child to the custody of adult male extended family members.

Avoid sending them on holidays to spend holidays with their uncles, nephews or cousins if you don't trust them.

Teach your girl child and all your children to speak up when the need arises.

Child Safeguarding is everyone’s duty.

WHEN YOUR CHILD SAYS "MY FRIEND ASKED ME TO HELP HIM"... DO YOU KNOW WHO THAT FRIEND IS?

We just came across another child safeguarding issue on social media today. Here's the story copied:

"A 15-year-old boy in Lagos was just caught with a GUN hidden inside a loaf of bread.

His explanation?
"I just came back from school. My friend gave it to me to take to Oshodi, that someone will pick it up."

A schoolboy used as a gun courier.

This is happening just months after Mene Ogidi, a young entertainer from Delta State, was killed after he went to a motor park to pick up a parcel sent by his friend - a parcel that contained a gun.

Two different boys. Same trap: "Help my friend carry something."

Parents, this is a wake-up call.

At The Institute of Child Safeguarding Advocacy-Nigeria (TICSAN), we are deeply worried:

❌ Our children are being recruited and exploited because we are not watching closely.
❌ Peer pressure and blind loyalty are pushing minors into crime.
❌ Many parents don't know who their children's friends are, where they go after school, or what is inside that bag they are carrying.

What every parent must do NOW:

1. KNOW THE FRIENDS: Know their names, know their parents, know their house. Not all friends are friends.

2. WATCH AFTER SCHOOL: The most dangerous hour is after school. What does your child do immediately after school? Who visits him?

3. SEARCH WITH LOVE: Check bags, pockets, phones - not as a police officer, but as a protector. A loaf of bread should just be bread.

4. TEACH THEM TO SAY NO: Teach your child that no friend should ask them to deliver a parcel they cannot open, or keep a secret from parents.

5. TALK ABOUT CONSEQUENCES: One errand for a "friend" can end a future. It can lead to arrest, prison or death.

To schools and communities: Let's institute proper child safeguarding. Every school needs a Designated Safeguarding Lead.

A child who can be sent to deliver bread with a gun inside has already been failed by the system.

Let's not wait for the viral video before we act.

TICSAN is committed to making every space safe for the Nigerian child. But safeguarding starts at HOME.

Yes, FIDA is very correct on this.

A child is not a source of income. A child is not entertainment. A child’s body must never be used to generate clicks, followers or money.

TICSAN decries the recurring cases of Child abuse by some biological parents in Nigeria.

We just can across another story of a minor who was tortured with hot iron by his own mum. See the photo below.

This is not discipline.

This is not correction.

This is child abuse and brutality.

We are advocating a national conference for all parents and stakeholders to address this recurring problem in the home front.

Parents must understand that when discipline migrates into inflicting injuries on their children, it has become an abuse. And they must be brought to book for it.

At The Institute of Child Safeguarding Advocacy, Nigeria-TICSAN, we are determined to spread the news against every form of Child abuse and molestation.

We are ready to help schools, parents, guardians and other professionals to gain the knowledge and skills required to safeguard and protect children.

Say no to child abuse.

Dear Parents,

Here is another deeply disturbing report involving the alleged sexual abuse of a child by her own father.

According to the report, the man pictured confessed to sexually abusing his 13-year-old daughter, despite living in the same household with his wife.

This is a devastating violation of a child’s safety, dignity, and trust—and a gross failure of parental responsibility.

Child sexual abuse is never acceptable. It must never be normalised, excused, or ignored.

Parents are expected to safeguard their children and protect them from abuse.

At TICSAN, we strongly condemn every form of abuse, exploitation, and violence against children. We remain committed to promoting child safeguarding, protection, awareness, and responsible parenting.

Say NO to child abuse. Protect children. Speak up. Act.
