Successful Conclusion of the 6th Edition of the Coal City Film Festival

The organizers of the Coal City Film Festival are pleased to announce the successful completion of its 6th edition, which concluded on March 28, 2026, in Enugu, Nigeria. The festival once again lived up to its reputation as one of the foremost platforms for celebrating creativity, storytelling, and excellence within the Nigerian and African film industry.

The event witnessed an impressive turnout of filmmakers, industry stakeholders, and cinema enthusiasts from across the country. Among the distinguished personalities in attendance were renowned actor and industry leader Ali Nuhu, who also serves as the Managing Director of the Nigerian Film Corporation, and Dr. Shaibu Husseini, Director-General of the National Film and Video Censors Board.

The festival featured film screenings, masterclasses, panel discussions, networking sessions, and recognition of outstanding contributions to the growth of Nollywood. Participants engaged in meaningful conversations on the future of the film industry, content distribution, capacity building, and the role of film in cultural preservation and national development.

The 6th edition reinforced the Coal City Film Festival’s commitment to nurturing emerging talents, promoting collaboration, and strengthening the Nigerian film ecosystem. The organizers extend their appreciation to all partners, sponsors, speakers, volunteers, and attendees whose contributions ensured the success of this year’s event.

Plans are already underway for the next edition, which promises to be even bigger and more impactful.

Throwback to an inspiring moment last year in Abuja at the Nigeria in Diaspora Investment Summit held at the Villa.

It was an honour spending time with Abike Dabiri-Erewa — Chairman/CEO, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), and Presidential Special Envoy on Diaspora Affairs. Her passion for connecting Nigerians abroad with opportunities back home remains truly commendable.

I was privileged to participate as an interventionist in the creative sector, contributing to conversations on how the diaspora can collaborate with local creatives to grow Nigeria’s film, media, and cultural industries.

Moments like this remind us that collaboration between home and diaspora is key to unlocking Nigeria’s immense potential. The creative sector is ready, and the future is bright!

Today, I reflect on the untimely retirement of Frank Mba, a distinguished officer of the Nigeria Police Force.

The Frank Mba I knew truly embodied the saying, “Police is your friend.” He brought intelligence, professionalism, and uncommon charisma to the Force. His communication skills were exceptional, his composure admirable, and yes — his dress sense? Always top notch. He carried the uniform with pride and style, and in doing so, made many young Nigerians see the nobility in becoming a police officer.

Beyond the uniform was a man of grace, clarity, and service. He redefined public engagement for the Police and reminded us that leadership is not just about authority, but about connection.

Congratulations, my friend, on a job well done. Your impact will not be forgotten. Nigeria will surely miss your voice, your presence, and your service.
