IT IS MY TURN TO IMPACT MY PEOPLE
In line with the renewed Hope Agenda of His Excellency Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, being implemented by His Excellency, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia PhD, my constituency project focus is designed as follows:
1. Education/Scholarship for Science & Tech
2. Free Primary Health Care
3. Rural Electrification
4. Rural Road Network
5. Youth and Women Empowerment
6. Microeconomic Development.
Notwithstanding, I will not lose focus on my primary duties as a legislator in the State House of Assembly to ensure good governance.
1. Lawmaking
My primary duty as a legislator is to make laws for the prosperity, peace, orderliness, and good governance of the state. I will ensure to initiate, debate, amend, and pass bills on various issues that would reshape and enhance economic development, modern education, a multifaceted approach to security, and standard healthcare, etc.
2. Representation
I will remain that loud voice for my constituency, representing the interests and opinions of my people in the state. My task is to bring local concerns, needs, and aspirations of my people to the legislative floor to ensure that the government addresses them.
3. Oversight Functions: As a legislator, I will monitor and investigate the activities of the executive branch (ministries, departments, and agencies) to ensure that laws are implemented effectively and public funds are used appropriately. This is to avert executive recklessness, promote accountability, and ensure government policies align with the law.
4. Budgeting and Appropriation: As a legislator, I will review, debate, and approve the annual budget (Appropriation Bill) proposed by the executives by allocating funds to projects and determining the means of raising revenue, ensuring that government spending reflects the needs of the Benue populace.
5. Confirmation of Appointments and Constitutional Duties: As a legislator, I will ensure that people with corrupt records are not confirmed in key executive appointments, such as commissioners and heads of government agencies, ensuring that only qualified individuals hold public office.
