Maybe that’s why silence makes it harder.

When people truly understand what menstruation affects, support becomes easier.
Less stigma. Less shame. Less “she’s overreacting.”
And more empathy, comfort, and safe conversations.

Periods are not just physical experiences, and girls should never have to suffer in silence.

On the International Day of the Boy Child 2026, CYPF partnered with and other stakeholders to host “Play Strong, Stand Tall” a football and mental wellness engagement for secondary school boys in Abuja.

The event created an opportunity to engage boys on important conversations around mental health, emotional wellbeing, healthy masculinity, inclusion, and help-seeking behaviors.

By combining sport with structured dialogue, we are helping to challenge harmful stereotypes that discourage boys from expressing emotions or seeking support.

Healthy boys build healthy communities, and investing in their wellbeing is an investment in a safer and more inclusive future.

CYPF’s exchange and learning visit in Morocco provided an inspiring opportunity to observe a community dialogue led by Project Soar girls between adolescent girls, parents, and community members.

The session demonstrated the importance of creating intentional spaces for open communication between young people and their families. Through honest conversations and guided discussions, the girls confidently shared their perspectives, experiences, and aspirations while engaging directly with their parents and community stakeholders.

What stood out most was the leadership displayed by the girls as they facilitated meaningful conversations around issues affecting their lives and futures. The dialogue encouraged listening, reflection, mutual understanding, and stronger community engagement.

Experiences like this reinforce the value of empowering girls not only with knowledge and confidence, but also with platforms to actively participate in conversations that shape their communities.

CYPF appreciates and the for facilitating this impactful learning experience and for their continued investment in adolescent girls’ leadership and agency.
