🚨 Important Medical Advisory for All Healthcare Providers 🚨
NO gunshot or road traffic accident (RTA) victim should die in your hospital or clinic due to delay in obtaining a police report.
Lives are precious, and time is critical in emergencies. As a medical professional, your first duty is to preserve life. In line with national health regulations and human rights principles:
🛑 Do NOT delay treatment of any victim of gunshot wounds or RTA because they lack a police report.
✅ Stabilize and save the victim’s life FIRST.
Only after the patient is out of immediate danger should you proceed with requesting the necessary documentation or notifying law enforcement.
This directive is backed by legal and ethical standards—including the Compulsory Treatment and Care for Victims of Gunshot Act, 2017—which clearly states that:
“Every hospital in Nigeria, whether public or private, shall accept and treat with urgency any person with a gunshot wound, and ensure that proper care is administered without police clearance.”
🔔 Spread the word: Healthcare providers, administrators, and emergency responders—this is a call to action. Let no victim die waiting for paperwork.
Act with compassion. Treat to save. Report responsibly.
Together, let’s uphold the sanctity of human life. Talkjudith
