Turning ideas into action starts with being able to communicate them, and that’s what Session 11 of the Global Girl Leadership Academy (GGLA) was all about!

Our girls stepped into the world of project pitching, learning how to present their projects clearly and confidently to different allies within their communities. Here’s what they explored:

* Pitching with Purpose: The girls learnt how to communicate their project ideas effectively, tailor their presentations to different community allies, and confidently share why their projects matter.
* Getting Ready for Action: We also checked in on the girls’ readiness for their Community Action Plans (CAPs). And the emotions? A beautiful mix! Some were ready, others were excited, scared, confident and some were probably feeling all four at once!

But every emotion is part of the journey. What matters is that they are moving from simply having ideas to preparing to take action and create change in their communities.

We’re so proud of how far the girls have come and can’t wait to see their ideas move from pitches and plans into real community action!

We are excited to celebrate six girls who have been accepted into the SEGEI Scholarship Program with support from The Next 100 Campaign. 🎉📚

Back-to-school season is about more than new classes, new teachers, and new routines.

It’s also an opportunity to ask: What skills will our girls develop this school year that may never appear on a report card?

☑️ Confidence to speak up.
☑️ Courage to try something new.
☑️ Emotional intelligence to navigate relationships.
☑️ Resilience when things don’t go as planned.
☑️ Leadership to positively influence the spaces they occupy.

As girls return to school, academic success matters—but so does developing the whole girl.

That’s why we created the EVOLVE Girls Mentorship Program: a year-long global leadership community where girls ages 12–18 can intentionally build the skills, relationships, and confidence they need to thrive throughout the school year and beyond.

Through mentorship and interactive learning, girls will explore leadership, confidence, communication, emotional wellbeing, healthy relationships, financial literacy, digital citizenship, college and career readiness, community impact, and more.

And they’ll do it alongside girls from different cultures, countries, and communities—learning not only how to lead, but how to lead in an increasingly connected world. 🌍

In Session 8 of the Global Girls Leadership Academy, our cohort tackled Project Timelines & Sustainability putting the “T” (Time-bound) into SMART goals to turn vision into action!

Through backward planning, the girls started with their final goal and worked in reverse to map out every critical milestone.

Here is a glimpse of the community projects they are building:
- Vocational Empowerment: Hairdressing skills training for economic independence.
- Advocacy Conference: A 3-day event addressing teenage pregnancy and early marriage.
- Rights Forum: Safe community spaces for girls to learn about their rights.

They also developed sustainability plans, securing local partners to ensure long-term impact. These young leaders aren’t just dreaming of a better future, they are actively building it!

There was a time when going back to school seemed far-fetched for Deborah. But she held on to her dream.

In Session 7 of Global Girl Leadership Academy, our girls discovered that setting a goal is only the first step, understanding why you set it is what actually carries you to the finish line.

Using a exercise called the WHY Ladder, the girls asked themselves “Why?” repeatedly, climbing down past surface-level answers until they hit something deeply personal. That final discovery is their Strong WHY.

Goals can be hard to achieve, and setbacks might be inevitable. But on the days when energy is low and quitting feels tempting, a strong WHY steps in as their inner anchor. It reminds them of what’s at stake and gives them the resilience to keep going.

Today, on International Youth Day, we celebrate young people in all their diversity.

Young people may grow up in different communities, face different challenges, and walk very different paths, but many of their aspirations remain the same: to learn, to thrive, to be heard, to have opportunities, and to build lives they can be proud of.

At Strong Enough Girls Empowerment Initiative (SEGEI), we believe that where a young person comes from should never determine how far they can go. This is why we continue to invest in education, mentorship, skills development, and opportunities that enable girls and young women to realise their potential.

Today, we celebrate every young person pursuing a dream and we recommit ourselves to creating a world where those dreams have room to grow.

*When purpose meets a plan.*

In Session 6 of the Global Girl Leadership Academy (GGLA), our girls learned how to turn their dreams into action by exploring the power of SMART goals. Through interactive discussions, practical exercises, and a fun SMART Goals Bingo activity, they discovered that meaningful change begins with clear, intentional, and achievable steps.

Building on their reflections about purpose from the previous session, the girls shared their personal goals, encouraged one another, and learned that while every dream starts with an idea, achieving it requires a plan.

At SEGEI, we believe that when girls are equipped with the right tools to set goals and pursue them with confidence, they become empowered to create lasting change in their lives and communities.

We’re halfway through phase 1 of this exciting pilot program. Stay tuned for more of our girls in action!

What can ₦1,000 do?

It can change the life of a girl like T**i.

At age 10, continuing her education felt uncertain until she came into the SEGEI Scholarship Program. Since then, T**i has stayed in school, completed her secondary education, and today is studying Banking and Finance at a University in Nigeria

T**i's journey reminds us that when thousands of people give a little, girls gain something priceless: the opportunity to stay in school and shape their own futures.
