What if the only thing standing between a child and their dream… is a book?

This is a simple but powerful story of children with big dreams to become scientists, lawyers, doctors, engineers, innovators…

But they all share one reality:
they don’t have access to books, libraries, or the tools they need to learn.

It’s easy to talk about the future of a nation.
But the future is sitting in classrooms today, without the tools it needs.

This video is their voice.

“Dear Nigeria, we are your children.
We are brilliant. We have dreams.”

If you believe every child deserves access to learning, please share this.

This message is for all of us.

FRIEND OF THE LIBRARY WOMAN FOUNDATION: ADEUJA OLUWASOGO A. (ESQ)

We are honoured to celebrate Adeuja Oluwasogo A. (ESQ), a respected lawyer, seasoned businessman, and passionate supporter of education and innovation.

With 20 years of legal practice and specialisation in ADR, International & Comparative Law, he exemplifies excellence, leadership, and service.

This year, he made a remarkable contribution by providing flash drives for all the students in our 2025 Reading Project. This thoughtful gesture allows us to share the English Made Simple study material digitally, reducing printing, minimising waste, and embracing an eco-friendly approach.

We proudly recognise him as a Friend of the Library Woman Foundation.

Thank you, Sir, for supporting our vision and investing in the next generation of readers and thinkers.

FRIEND OF THE LIBRARY WOMAN FOUNDATION: ABISOLA OMIDIJI

We are excited to celebrate Abisola Omidiji, a passionate advocate for clear communication and a supporter of the Library Woman Foundation.

Abisola is an experienced and certified proofreader and copy editor, accredited by the College of Media and Publishing (UK). She holds a B.A. in English Language and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration. She brings excellence and clarity to every project she handles.

When approached to put together a study guide for this year’s competition, she gladly volunteered her time and expertise to write “English Made Simple” specifically for this project… a thoughtful and impactful gift to our young readers.

In addition to this contribution, Abisola also supported financially, helping us continue our mission of empowering readers and learners.

We are honoured to recognise her as a Friend of the Library Woman Foundation.

Thank you, for your generosity, passion, and belief in the power of literacy.

1. Nigerian Prose

Just a small note: we are hoping to avoid books that are currently on the WAEC, NECO, or JAMB syllabuses.

Drop your recommendations in the comments or DM us!

Star of the Week (Week 1): Faith Morenikeji Olarinde

In the very first week of our mentorship group, Faith showed us what true leadership looks like.

She listened carefully, paid attention to detail, and followed through… thoroughly and on time. Her response to one of our early group activities stood out for all the right reasons.

Faith demonstrated that leadership is often found in the quiet strength of doing the right thing… and doing it well.

That is why she was named our very first Star of the Week under The Library Woman Mentorship Project, and we are incredibly proud of her.

Introducing: The Library Woman Mentorship Project

At The Library Woman Foundation, we believe that literacy is only the beginning. What happens after the books have been read is just as important as what happens within its pages.

This is why we launched the Library Woman Mentorship Project; a nurturing, supportive space for past participants of our literacy competitions to continue their growth journey.

Through weekly challenges, fun tasks, shared reflections, and gentle guidance, we are nurturing confidence, creativity, and leadership; one star at a time.

We are already in full swing, and we are loving the energy in this space. From affirmations to initiative, these young minds are shining.

Stay tuned as we introduce you to our Stars of the Week… brilliant young minds doing extraordinary things in quiet ways.

March 2025… It’s a Wrap!

As we draw the curtains on a beautiful month, let us take a journey down memory lane!

We started by dusting off the cobwebs on our page and diving right into our theme: Empowering Young Minds through Literacy!

Our posting schedule was Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays - although we did miss a few days (oops!). Did you notice? 🙈

We kicked off the month with fascinating literacy facts, discovering that Nigeria’s literacy rate has been steadily improving over the years.

Then, we celebrated the joy of reading in our own unique ways - whether that meant getting lost in a physical book, devouring a digital novel, or joining a book club!

International Women’s Day was a highlight, as we shone the spotlight on the founder of the Library Woman Foundation. We were reminded that education is the key to accelerating action for women’s empowerment!

Still in the spirit of International Women’s Day, we celebrated a literacy heroine who embodies empowerment and gender equality - the amazing Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie!

Cool stuff! 😎

So what fun literacy activities did you try this month? Did you experience the joy of reading aloud with a friend? Did you create a comfortable reading spot that is all yours? What did you learn about the vital role water plays in our lives during World Water Day?

Share your thoughts and literacy journey with us in the comments!

We are looking forward to an exciting April… learning and growing together!

Happy World Water Day!💧🎉

Today, we would like to share a story about how our love for reading and literacy can help us appreciate the importance of water. Just as reading opens doors to new worlds and ideas, water is essential for life on our planet. It quenches our thirst, nourishes our bodies, and supports our ecosystems. As we celebrate World Water Day, let us remember the vital role water plays in our lives. 🌍

As we continue our journey of Empowering Young Minds through Literacy, we can dive into the world of water-themed books or other literature on water and discover the wonders of this precious natural resource! 💦

Would you read about water today? Perhaps a water-themed book or other literature? Grab a glass of water as you share with us in the comments! 😉

Together, we can create change and promote a love for reading and water conservation!

Get Comfy with a Good Book!

Hey book lovers! As we continue our journey of Empowering Young Minds through Literacy, let us get comfy and talk about creating the perfect reading nook!

But first, why do we need a comfortable reading nook? In today’s world, it is easy to get caught up in screens and distractions. A comfy reading nook provides a quiet, comfortable space for young minds to focus, relax, and escape into the world of books!

Literacy Tip: Create Your Dream Reading Nook!

- Designate a quiet, comfy spot for reading, and make it irresistible!
- Add plush pillows and snuggly blankets to make it inviting!
- Ensure good lighting to reduce eye strain!
- Stock it with a diverse range of books to keep young minds curious and engaged!

How do you like to get comfy with a good book? Do you:

📖 Snuggle up in a reading corner?
📚 Get lost in a book in the quiet library?
🪟 Find a comfortable spot outdoors with a great view?

Share your unique reading styles with us in the comments! Let’s get comfy and get reading!

The Joy of Reading Aloud 📚📣🦻

As we continue our journey of Empowering Young Minds through Literacy, let us celebrate the joy of reading aloud!

There is something special about reading aloud. Whether it is sharing a bedtime story with a child, reading to a friend or family member; or simply enjoying a book alone. Reading aloud has the power to transport us to new worlds and create lasting connections.

Here are a few reasons why reading aloud is magical:

- It brings stories to life, sparking imagination and creativity 🌟
- It creates special bonding moments with loved ones, fostering a sense of togetherness and community 💕
- It evokes emotions, challenges our perspectives, and inspires meaningful conversations 📚

Now, we would love to hear from you in the comments!

- Please tag a friend or family member you would love to read aloud with.
- Would you consider visiting a school in your community to read aloud to some of the students?
