💙 ❤️Happy International Women’s Day

At Kanem Care and Support Initiative, International Women’s Day is a reminder of the everyday realities women and girls navigate across our communities.

From survivors rebuilding their confidence, to girls returning to school, to women leading conversations that challenge harmful norms, we see daily what courage and leadership look like.

Through our work on child protection, prevention of child labour, and response to gender-based violence, we remain committed to creating safer spaces where women and girls are heard, protected, and supported to thrive.

Today, we honor the quiet strength, the bold leadership, and the collective action of women shaping change around us.

Progress happens when women are not only included, but supported to lead.

As the 16 Days of Activism come to an end, we must remember: this is not the end of our fight against GBV. Whether or not the campaign ends, our commitment continues in our homes, workplaces, communities, and online spaces.

Let’s keep working toward a society where every woman is valued, respected, protected, and safe.

A violence-free future begins with the actions we take today and the consistency we show tomorrow.

Preventing and responding to GBV is not the work of one group alone. It takes collaboration between communities, NGOs, government, religious leaders, youth groups, and families to build systems that truly protect women and girls.

When we work together, we create safer homes, safer communities, and a safer society for everyone. Let’s strengthen partnerships and stand united against all forms of violence.

Digital spaces should be safe for everyone, yet women face high levels of online harassment, stalking, threats, and cyberbullying, all of which are real forms of gender-based violence.

We must promote safer online behaviour, call out digital abuse, report harmful content, and support women who experience online violence.
Protecting women offline also means protecting them online.

Justice should never be out of reach for survivors of GBV. Every survivor deserves to report abuse without fear, intimidation, or discrimination.

Strong laws are important, but they mean nothing without consistent enforcement, survivor-centered systems, and accountability for perpetrators.

When justice works, survivors heal.
When justice fails, violence continues.

Child marriage is not tradition, it is gender-based violence. It robs girls of their childhood, their education, their health, and their right to choose their own future.

Every girl deserves protection, opportunity, and a life filled with possibilities, not early marriage and lifelong harm.

Let’s raise our voices, support community awareness, strengthen laws, and ensure that no girl is forced into marriage.

Empowering women and girls is one of the strongest tools we have to prevent GBV.
When women have education, economic opportunities, confidence, and support, they are better able to resist abuse, speak out, and access help.

Empowerment is not just about skills, it is about safety, dignity, and freedom. Let’s invest in the resources and systems that allow women and girls to thrive.
