Activista Makurdi Cell has successfully delivered a Free Skills Acquisition Programme in partnership with Assist and Empower Initiative, providing young people and community members with practical skills to support their livelihoods and strengthen their economic independence.

Beyond advocacy, we believe in creating practical opportunities that enable young people to acquire skills, build confidence and become active contributors to their communities.

We appreciate the Makurdi Cell team, Assist and Empower Initiative, facilitators, volunteers and participants for making the programme a success.

Together, we continue to organise, empower and drive positive change from the grassroots.

Activista Nigeria’s voter mobilisation exercise has reached 503 citizens across five states and the Federal Capital Territory, as part of efforts to strengthen civic participation and encourage eligible Nigerians to register for their Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCs) ahead of the 2027 general election.

The voter mobilisation, PVC collection and registration exercise, conducted from July 23 to 25, 2026, was implemented in Kogi, Nasarawa, Kaduna, Adamawa states and the FCT, with funding support from ActionAid Nigeria through the Direct Action Fund (DAF) under the MOVE Project.

According to the activity report, 476 citizens were mobilised for new PVC registration, while 27 registered voters were supported to collect their PVCs, bringing the total number of citizens mobilised to 503.

Women accounted for 276 of those mobilised, representing 54.9 per cent, while 227 were male, representing 45.1 per cent.

The Nigerian Constitution recognizes many of these socio-economic rights under Chapter II as Fundamental Objectives and Directive Principles of State Policy. However, they are generally regarded as non-justiciable, meaning citizens cannot easily enforce them in court. But should rights that determine whether people live in dignity or deprivation remain beyond legal protection?
