Building Blocks for Peace Foundation, GPPAC West Africa Regional Secretariat is commencing a “Climate, Peace and Security (CLIMPSE) '' Initiative.
This initiative is aimed at addressing the growing intersection between climate change, peace and security in the region. The initiative recognises that environmental pressures such as drought, flooding, desertification, displacement, and competition over shrinking natural resources can intensify existing social tensions and contribute to violent conflict if left unmanaged.
Through this programme, we seek to promote a people-centred, preventive, and locally driven response by engaging civil society organisations, women, youth, and community leaders in shaping sustainable solutions. The project advances practical strategies such as early warning systems, policy dialogue, conflict-sensitive climate adaptation, and resilience-building measures that strengthen peaceful coexistence and social stability.
It is on this note that Building Blocks for Peace Foundation, the regional secretariat of GPPAC West Africa, is inviting all members of GPPAC West Africa and other interested parties to register and participate in the webinar scheduled to hold on Thursday, 7 May 2026 at 2:00 PM (Lagos time) via Zoom.
The webinar will provide a valuable platform to share more information about this initiative and also provide an opportunity for collective reflection on addressing climate-related security risks and emerging threats in West Africa.
