The word "Heiwa" is a Japanese term for "Peace". Therefore, this page aims to propagate peace, development and sustainable development in Africa through education. The motivation behind this page and "NGO" so to say, was a trip to Hiroshima Japan in 2011. That trip was an eye opener, as to the significance of the survivors of violent conflicts’. In this case, the "Hibakusha" (a term for survivors of the A-bomb in 1945), have helped either directly or indirectly in averting internal violent conflict in the country, by sharing stories of their experiences during the war. In a bid to replicate lessons learnt from the approach of the “Hibakusha”, in averting future conflicts in Africa, this page was born. If anything the African subcontinent has experienced a lot of violent conflicts and unfortunately, still does. From the Nigeria/Biafra War to the ongoing conflicts in Mali, DRC, and Sudan to mention but a few, instead of watching and doing nothing, this page encourages us as survivors of different conflict to use our stories, to discourage those that might feel that violence is the answer. There is no doubt in our capacity to utilise the vast available human resource, as most of us have in one way or the other being affected by conflicts. All we need is for you to start from you immediate environment as change begins with you. Will you join us in our campaign to make our beloved continent a better place for our children and our children’s children? If your answer is yes, then please, share your stories with your children, your neighbour and anyone that is willing to hear. Your action might help avert future conflicts in your country, and our continent.
