Strategic Advocacy | Shared Commitment | Real Impact

The National Coalition of Civil Society to End Child Marriage, Nigeria, recently engaged in a high-level advocacy visit to the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC).

The outcome? A renewed commitment from the NHRC to join forces in advancing legal protections and practical solutions to end child marriage across Nigeria.

This is more than a milestone — it's momentum.

🔹 Every child deserves dignity and protection.
🔹 Every girl deserves the chance to learn, grow, and lead.
🔹 And every system must be held accountable to that vision.

Together, we’re breaking barriers and building futures.

Since 2010, governments across Africa have made promises—policies, plans, and pledges—to prioritize children in national budgets. But how much of that progress has truly reached the child in the village, the child on the street, or the girl being forced into early marriage?

Today, millions of African children are still missing—not from our memories, but from our budgets.

We don’t just need plans—we need action backed by money. Because if children are not funded, they are not truly valued. A budget is a moral document, and its content reflects who we prioritize.

So today, we raise one simple but urgent call:
Make children visible. Make them count. Make the budget theirs.

Enugu State Chapter visited the Enugu State Ministry of Budget & Planning to push for increased prioritization of girls in budgetary processes.

Barr. Chris Robert Ozongwu (represented by the Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Clara Nwakego Eze) assured the delegation that budget warrants related to girls' issues will be treated with urgency.

This is a critical step in aligning state-level budget action with the national strategy to end child marriage in Nigeria.

The future of Nigeria rests on the shoulders of these beautiful children, and it is our collective responsibility to ensure those shoulders are unburdened by early marriage and other forms of exploitation.

At the National Coalition of Civil Society to End Child Marriage in Nigeria, we are working tirelessly with communities, parents, and stakeholders to raise awareness about child rights and the laws protecting them.

We are committed to creating a safe and joyful environment where every child can learn, play, and fulfill their dreams.
