Yesterday was not funny at all. We left our homes to attend the most talked about Delta State Economic Summit, especially with the hope to hear our very own Super Star.. Mrs Okonjo Iweala speak face to face....only for us to be blocked out . And we and so many people, some from outside the state and country spent the whole day at Cenotaph sorting out registration issues....after registration online with response almost instantly.

Haaaaa the Registration Team of the Delta State Government Delta State Summit performed very badly. It was so frustrating.
But as women out for development and to be happy we still had fun all by ourselves.

But that committee need to review their strategy today.

However, very much later when our idol has stoped speaking, and the session almost over, we gained access to the Summit venue.

Waoooow....the Decoration and Arrangement Team did excellently well. Inside the hall was Muaaaaah...

Hope today will be better...???

*Association Against Child Sexual and Gender Based Violence Official Statement on 30th July, 2026 : World Day Against Trafficking in Persons*

Today is *World Day Against Trafficking in Persons*. This year’s theme, *“Trapped Behind the Scam”*, calls on all to look beyond the screen and see the human beings hidden behind fake job offers, online fraud, and "japa" schemes.

We must speak up and make commitments to join the campaign in fighting human trafficking. 'For indeed, we are condemned to make the difference. If we do not make the difference, our indifference condemns humanity, and our pride of place stands naked and in shame'.

The UN reports that *50 million people live in modern slavery worldwide*, and *1 in 4 are children*. To the merchants of inhumanity, this is big business *human trafficking generates an estimated $150 billion per year globally*.

In Nigeria, *NAPTIP has rescued over 17,000 victims since 2003*, with South-South states like Delta targeted through false "japa" and job offers. Today, many of our young people are *trapped behind the scam* — lured by fake overseas jobs and forced into cybercrime compounds.

As UN Secretary-General António Guterres said: _“Human trafficking is a crime that shames us all. We must work together to end it.”_
And as *UNODC* warns: _“Trafficking in persons is modern-day slavery. It .”_

_“Trafficking thrives in silence. It dies in communities that refuse to look away.”_
Recognize red flags. *Verify every job offer, especially those online and abroad.* Speak up. Report to *NAPTIP: 0800 225 6272*. Support survivors, not to stigmatize them.

We hosted a training on Domestic Resource Mobilization for Community Impact on GBV and Women Empowerment yesterday.

Our take home includes:
CBOs should ensure that activities are carried out to the last details.
Share reports of activities with supporters / donors.
Be accountable to the last kobo
Monitor progress of your interventions and talk about them publicly using media.
