We’re thrilled to highlight Green Pillars’ participation in the CORE Project (Carbon Offsetting Rice Emissions) alongside GIZ – German Cooperation, Olam Farm, and the German Cooperation Corporation.

Our Executive Director, Hajia Maimuna Lawal El-Labib, joined other distinguished panellists to discuss how this initiative is building the right conditions for smallholder farmers to benefit directly from reducing greenhouse gas emissions in the rice value chain.

The CORE Project is more than a program—it’s a bold step toward sustainability, climate action, and farmer empowerment.

As the year winds down, it's a good time to pause, reflect, and appreciate the journey. For farmers, this means looking back on the hard work, the long hours, the challenges faced, and the harvest reaped. While the journey of farming is never easy, the rewards are often greater than we realize. No matter how this year went, there's always something to be grateful for— it could be the crops that grew despite the odds, the lessons learned along the way, or the support of family and community.

Farming is about more than just planting seeds and waiting for harvest. It's a year-round cycle that demands patience, persistence, and resilience. And even when things don’t go as planned, there's still room to be thankful. Perhaps you learned a new technique, built stronger relationships with suppliers or customers, or simply gained more knowledge about the challenges your farm faces. These are victories in their own right.

As 2024 comes to an end, take a moment to express gratitude for your hard work and everything you've accomplished. A thankful mindset doesn’t only improve your well-being; it can also fuel your motivation for the year ahead.

Looking forward to 2025, the key to a successful year starts beneath your feet—in the soil. Healthy soil is the foundation for a successful harvest, and it deserves your attention and care. One of the most important things you can do as a farmer is prioritize soil health. Healthy soil helps crops grow strong, reduces the need for chemical fertilizers, and boosts the resilience of your farm to weather conditions.

Its December, the last month of the year and we want you to know that, endings hold the seeds of new beginnings, much like Nigeria's weather, we see how each phase of weather blends into the next, teaching us that nothing is truly final. The rains might recede, but they leave behind fertile soil ready for planting. Harmattan may dry up the land, but it clears the way for fresh growth. In much the same way, every ending should prepare us for what’s to come, even when we can’t see it yet.

As the year wraps up, step forward, plant your seeds of hope, and trust the process of growth.

The new season is waiting for you.
