What if one of the reasons you feel stuck is because you were taught to see marriage as the destination?

So you spent years preparing for marriage.

Then marriage came.

And somewhere along the way, you stopped asking,

What am I building with my life?

Marriage is important.

But it is one part of your life, not the whole of it.

You might feel like you no longer know what you want. It is not that you never had dreams; there was a time when your desires were sharp and clear. You believed in your capabilities.

Then reality set in. Certain dreams simply didn't materialize. Other things you achieved failed to bring the deep satisfaction you expected. Some of your greatest strengths went unseen or unappreciated in the environments you found yourself. Slowly and quietly, a shift occurred: you stopped knowing how to wish for things or knowing what to want.

Today, looking toward the future, only the basics remain: comfort, security, peace, a decent life. Beyond these, uncertainty takes over. What will genuinely fulfill me? What kind of existence do I actually want? Am I asking for too much? Do I truly deserve what I deeply crave? Is it even possible, or have I simply trained myself to lower my ambitions because past hopes ended in disappointment?

Often, saying "I don't know what I want" isn't a sign of indifference. It is the protective voice of someone who loved deeply, hoped fiercely, and grew weary of disappointment or afraid to yearn again.

Yet, there is good news here. Losing touch with your desires does not mean they have vanished. Outgrowing or missing past dreams does not mean your capacity to dream is gone.

Perhaps you are not standing at the end of your desires at all. Perhaps you are standing at the threshold of rediscovering who you are and simply naming that truth is the first step back toward what truly matters to you.

What area of your life feels most ready for this kind of rediscovery right now?

Sometimes it is hard to celebrate with other people, especially when they are celebrating the very thing you have been praying for: their marriage, their baby, their new job, or their breakthrough.

While everyone is happy for them, something inside you whispers, “When will it be my turn?” But here is what we often forget: the person celebrating also has things in their life that are not working.

They are not celebrating because everything is perfect; they are celebrating because, for this moment, something worked.

Maybe that is where some of us get stuck. We become so focused on what is not working that we stop seeing what is. You may be grieving what you do not have while someone else is looking at your life and praying for what you take for granted.

So no, you do not have to pretend that the pain is not there. But do not let one unanswered prayer make you blind to everything else God is doing.

Celebrate with others, and do not forget to celebrate what is still working in your own life. Do not become so consumed by what has not happened that you forget you are still living.

Sometimes, we feel stuck because everything in our minds has become tangled.

At times like that, we don't always need someone to tell us what to do.

We need help untangling what we already know, what we fear, what we want, what we believe, and what is actually happening.

Sometimes, we assume we need counselling because we feel confused or overwhelmed. But not every moment of stuckness requires someone to give us answers or tell us what direction to take.

Sometimes, what we really need is someone who can listen. Someone who can help us sort through our thoughts without immediately replacing them with their own perspective.

Because sometimes, buried underneath all the confusion, you already have thoughts, desires, and answers that need to be understood.

When someone is too quick to tell you what they think you should do, you can begin to doubt what is happening inside you. You may even feel guilty for thinking or wanting what you genuinely feel.

You don't need someone to take over your thinking; you need someone to help you think clearly.

Someone who listens, someone who asks the right questions, someone who helps you see what you could not see because everything inside you had become tangled.

Know that clarity can sometimes do what advice cannot.

Maybe you are not completely lost. Maybe you just need space and guidance to understand what is already happening within you.

Pray for understanding and discernment. Ask God to guide you to someone who will truly listen and help you understand what’s happening within you not someone who will judge or confuse you further.

Let's talk about feeling stuck.

Not the kind of stuckness that disappears after one motivational video.

I mean the kind where you look at your life and wonder:

Why can't I move?

Why do I keep starting and stopping?

Why do I know what I should do but still cannot seem to do it?

Why does everyone else appear to be moving while I feel like my life is standing still?

I know this place.

And one thing I have learned is this.

You may be stuck for reasons you have not yet identified.

Sometimes you do not need more motivation.

You need clarity.

Sometimes you do not need another plan.

You need to understand what is really stopping you.

Sometimes you are not stuck because you do not know what to do.

You are stuck because fear, exhaustion, disappointment, shame, trauma, lack of support or years of waiting have quietly taken away your ability to move.

So I want to begin a conversation.

I want to dismantle stuckness.

Not just talk about it.

I want to explore the different reasons people feel stuck and help us ask better questions about our own lives.

Because you cannot effectively move forward until you begin to understand what is holding you where you are.

And perhaps you are not as stuck as you think.

Perhaps you just need to understand your stuckness differently.

Let's begin there.

What do you think? Let me hear your opinion in the comment. Why do people feel stuck?

What if you are not stuck because life is impossible, but because you have postponed your life until something changes?

Sometimes, we are praying for something, but we do not know how to keep living while we wait. So we put our lives on hold.

We think we cannot be happy, fulfilled, or move forward until the marriage changes, the money comes, the opportunity appears, or the prayer is answered.

And when nothing changes, we begin to feel that God has abandoned us, but God has not shut the door. We have.

We shut ourselves inside the boundaries of what we think we need, convincing ourselves that life cannot be good without that one thing.

But what if you kept living?

What if you explored the opportunities before you, learned, grew, connected, and took the next step available to you?

You may discover that living does not take you further away from what you desire. It may actually take you closer.

Pray, hope, be expectant. But while you are doing that, keep living.

Do not postpone your entire life because one part of it has not changed yet.

Sometimes, the people around us do not need another person telling them what to do.

They have probably already received enough advice.

What they may need is someone willing to pause long enough to understand what life looks like from where they are standing.

We are all different. We carry different experiences, fears, hopes, values, and wounds. So when someone shares their struggle with you, their perspective may not immediately make sense to you.

But understanding does not begin with agreement.

It begins with curiosity.

“Help me understand.”

“What does this mean to you?”

“What do you really need right now?”

We may not all be therapists. But we can all learn to become safer people.

People who listen before judging.

People who seek to understand before correcting.

People who help others think and find their way forward.

Sometimes, being there for someone does not mean having all the answers.

Sometimes, it simply means making sure they do not feel alone in their journey.

You may not be able to solve someone's problem.

But you can make sure they feel seen while they are trying to find their way.

You do not have to postpone your life until everything becomes easier.

You can face your challenges, trust God, adjust your strategy, develop capacity, and still be fully present in your life.

Maybe coming alive begins when we stop asking life to become perfect before we give ourselves permission to truly live.

You are not an afterthought.

And you were never created as a quick fix to a problem.

You are the crowning detail of creation.

Intentionally designed.
Intricately crafted.
Built with extraordinary capacity.

When God made you, He was not simply repeating what He had already done. He took His time.

You are a masterpiece. A unique expression of His wisdom, strength, grace and purpose.

So the next time you are tempted to compare yourself with someone else or feel secondary in God's plan, remember this.

God took His time with you.

You were created intentionally.
Designed to thrive.
Built for purpose and impact.

You are worthy of the space you occupy.

And you are deeply loved.

You may have married with a beautiful picture of the kind of marriage you wanted.

You imagined a man who would be loving, attentive, interested in you, emotionally present and excited to build life with you.

But what happens when, years later, your husband has not become that man?

Please hear me.

You do not have to lose your life waiting for him to catch up with the vision you had for your marriage.

There is so much more to you than being someone's wife.

There is a woman you still need to discover.

There are gifts you need to develop.

There are dreams you need to pursue.

There are skills you need to acquire.

There are friendships you need to build.

There are places you need to see.

There are things you need to learn.

There are people you are meant to influence.

There is purpose that still needs to find expression through you.

And there is a version of you that may have been buried under years of disappointment, waiting and trying to make your marriage work.
