Last week, I had a session with a young man who everyone calls the “funny guy.” Always cracking jokes, always keeping the mood light. But beneath that humor was deep anxiety he never showed.
Many Nigerians use laughter as a shield, especially men. We joke through the pain until it becomes part of the act.
Mental health isn’t weakness, it’s awareness. Sometimes, the bravest thing you can do is stop pretending everything is fine.
