🌍🇨🇲 Accelerating PIDACC/NB Implementation: NBA Support and Advocacy Mission in Cameroon

From June 1st to 6th, 2026, His Excellency Kocou Armand HOUANYE, Executive Secretary of the Niger Basin Authority (NBA), led a strategic mission to Yaoundé to strengthen Cameroon’s commitment to the implementation of PIDACC/NB.

👉 Key objectives of the mission:

Fast-track, as early as 2026, the delivery of community and multi-purpose infrastructures under PIDACC/NB in Cameroon.

Advance towards the operationalization of the Regional Climate Change Adaptation Fund in the Niger Basin.

Prepare the 13th Summit of NBA Heads of State and Government.

Ensure the regular payment of statutory contributions for a strong and sustainable NBA.

Launch the construction of the NBA Headquarters.

Minister Alamine Ousmane Mey reaffirmed Cameroon’s unwavering support, while both parties agreed to accelerate the Programme’s implementation pace to achieve the expected results by December 2027.

From May 17th to 23rd, 2026, His Excellency Kocou Armand HOUANYE, Executive Secretary of the Niger Basin Authority (NBA), led a strategic mission to Abuja to accelerate the implementation of PIDACC/NB – Nigeria Component.

👉 Key messages and objectives of the mission:

Establish a coherent action plan with a clear roadmap to deliver community and multi-purpose infrastructures by June 2027.

Strengthen close monitoring of the Programme with weekly reports and an ad hoc committee of experts.

Advance towards the operationalization of the Regional Climate Change Adaptation Fund (RCCAF) and the Regional Early Warning System.

Prepare the 13th Summit of NBA Heads of State and Government.

Consolidate partnerships with the AfDB, the Islamic Development Bank, and national institutions to effectively fast-track PIDACC/NB.

Nigerian authorities reaffirmed their determination to significantly improve the Programme’s performance as early as 2026, aiming to achieve the expected results before its closing date in December 2027.
