This past Saturday, I presided over the final meeting for the year of our Anambra Corpers Forum here in Abuja. As I sat there, I was just filled with a deep sense of gratitude.

Honestly, when I first moved to Abuja and settled in around May, this idea just kept nudging at my heart. I felt we needed an association for all of us from Anambra serving here. It was a simple thought, but one I couldn't shake off. And look at us now. By God’s grace, that thought became this beautiful forum.

We found our rhythm, meeting faithfully every second Saturday of the month. Each gathering felt like a little piece of home.

One of our proudest moments was in October, with our Girl Child Outreach project. It’s something special, and I believe we’re the only corpers’ forum in Abuja that took on something like that this year. It wasn’t just an event; it was a statement of who we are.
Ndi Anambra!!!!!!

At this last meeting, I had to thank my incredible Exco team. They’ve been my right hand, sharing the load and the vision without complaint. And to every member who showed up, meeting after meeting, rain or shine, their steadfastness is the backbone of this forum.

A special shout-out to our Vice President, Vivy Adaobi Okafor, and her kitchen team. They treated us to the most amazing fried rice, salad, and pepper chicken. The taste is still lingering anyway And of course, our brothers Hon. Kingsley Okeke and Hon. Uchenna Harris Okonkwo, alongside every member who contributed in any way to make that evening possible
thank you.

My thank you also go to everyone, both within and outside our forum, who supported us this year. You know yourselves. May God bless you richly for standing with us.

To my greatest surprise, the forum members turned the appreciation back on me. The things they said about my leadership… it was humbling. It reminded me of a belief I’ve always held quietly: that perhaps my destiny is to be a creator of connections, a gatherer of people. That maybe I was built for this: to bring us together and to lead.

As we wrap up this year, my promise is simple: I will finish well. All the glory for anything we’ve achieved goes right back to God, where it belongs.

With a grateful heart,

Chris Onwa Mmaju

It was a Wednesday to remember for the members of the Anambra Corpers Forum, FCT Abuja, as I led our members from three federal constituencies in Anambra State; Nnewi North/Nnewi South/Ekwusigo, Idemili North & South, and Orumba North & South on a courtesy visit to their Representatives at the National Assembly, Abuja, as part of activities marking the conclusion of our national service.

The visit, which came after many months of writing letters and following up at the various offices, was a truly joyful and fulfilling experience for everyone involved.

Our first engagement was with the Honourable Member representing Nnewi North, Nnewi South & Ekwusigo Federal Constituency, Ifeanyi Peter Uzokwe who graciously invited the us to observe the Plenary proceedings of the House of Representatives. Immediately after the sitting, we proceeded to a Committee Room where Hon. Uzokwe hosted us to a warm civic reception. He was joined by Hon. Peter Aniekwe (Anambra East/Anambra West), Hon. Ajilo Umar Shehu (Makarfi/Kudan, Kaduna State), and Hon. Omoruyi Murphy Osaro (Egor/Ikpoba Okha, Edo State), all of whom welcomed the us with open arms and engaged us in a robust and inspiring session.

The 3-hour interaction proved remarkably enriching. We shared our reflections on the Plenary and engaged in thoughtful conversations on legislative processes and the place of youth in Nigeria’s evolving democratic system. Our questions were treated with respect, and we were encouraged to embrace civic responsibility, participate actively in governance, and prepare ourselves as the next generation of leaders poised to make meaningful impact.

Next, I led corps members from Idemili North & South to the office of their Representative, Hon. Uchenna Harris Okonkwo who received them warmly. He held a two-hour discussion with them on the workings of the legislature and the responsibilities of a lawmaker. He further advised the corps members to embrace skill acquisition and equip themselves with relevant competencies that can provide sustainable income after service.

Finally, we proceeded with the corps members from Orumba North & South to the office of their Representative, Hon. Princess Chinwe Nnabuife (Adaejiejemba). She welcomed them with motherly warmth and affection. The conversation felt like that of a mother among her children. She expressed joy at meeting corps members from her constituency and encouraged them to uphold good conduct, be worthy ambassadors of Orumba, and prioritize skills that will empower them to become self-reliant rather than waiting solely for government employment.

It was indeed a hectic day for me as the President and convener of these three official visits, but above all, I thank God for His grace and strength that saw us through.

18th October 2025

Yesterday, I led the Anambra Corpers Forum, FCT Abuja, on our long-anticipated school outreach to commemorate the 2025 International Day of the Girl Child at Spiritan International Girls’ School, Abuja.

While addressing the students, I reaffirmed my commitment and advocacy for greater opportunities for the girl child in education, leadership, and career development. I also emphasized the need for the total eradication of all forms of discrimination against girls in society.

In my message, I encouraged the students to believe in themselves, reminding them that there are no limits to what they can achieve their gender should never be a barrier to their aspirations. I cited inspiring examples of women excelling in various fields across the globe, including Giorgia Meloni, Prime Minister of Italy; Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Director-General of the World Trade Organization; Dr. Adaora Umeoji, Mrs. Nneka Onyeali-Ikpe of Fidelity Bank; and Senator Ireti Kingibe, representing the FCT.

I sincerely appreciate our sponsors: His Excellency Valentine Chineto Ozigbo, Hon. Joshua Obika (Honourable member Representing Amac/Bwari federal constituency) Sir Charles Kene Ojukwu Cko, Hon. 11th October 2025

Yesterday, I led the members of the Anambra Corpers Forum, FCT Abuja, on a courtesy visit to one of Anambra’s finest exports to Nigeria, the Honourable Member representing AMAC/Bwari Federal Constituency, a man who embodies capacity, competence, and the quintessence of humility, Hon. Joshua Obika

Hon. Obika, who hails from Enugwu-Ukwu in Anambra State, represents the good people of AMAC/Bwari Federal Constituency in the Federal Capital Territory.

During the visit, I expressed our heartfelt gratitude to the Honourable Member for graciously granting us an audience. It has not been an easy task, as the leader of the forum, to secure appointments or meetings with our distinguished Anambra legislators.

I took a moment to introduce the Anambra Corpers Forum and its mission: a platform created for Anambra indigenes serving their one-year National Youth Service in the FCT to network, interact, and support one another in meaningful ways.

I also informed the Honourable that some of our members are rounding off their service year and would deeply appreciate being considered for any available employment opportunities.

In his remarks, Hon. Obika appreciated our visit, emphasizing that it is the right and privilege of every Ndi Anambra to have access to their representatives in government. He briefly shared his inspiring journey to greatness, which, according to him, was made possible through hard work, prayers, commitment, and readiness to seize opportunities.

He further advised us to equip ourselves with relevant skills needed to thrive in today’s world, enabling us to begin life after service without relying solely on white-collar jobs. Hon. Obika also urged us to maximize the opportunities provided through the NYSC scheme, to always put God first, trust in His timing, and remain prepared for opportunities when they arise.

It was one of our very best outings as you can see from the pictures, we were very happy.

Thank you Honourable.
Na now I understand why the people you represent love you so much
