Data tells a story.
The Africa Polling Institute’s 2026 Nigeria Social Cohesion Survey reports an index of 48.8%. The highest level recorded since the study began in 2019.
This is up from 46.8% in 2025.
Supported by the Ford Foundation , the report evaluates 14 essential indicators including Identity, Trust, Social Justice, Civic Participation, and Peace & Conflict Resolution.
A key finding:
While trust in government remains at 28%, trust in religious and traditional leaders stands at 48%.
