🌍💚 It is in our Mandate: Putting Children, Mothers and Caregivers First in the Fight Against TB/HIV – we took this targeted message with accompanying interventions directly to our target beneficiaries...

Within the past week, starting 22nd September 2025, Carelife Character Foundation proudly supported the official flag-off of the National Child TB/HIV Testing Week at Community Secondary School, Mbak Etoi, Uyo LGA; and later to the villages in Uyo and Essien Udim LGAs.
We provided technical support, demonstration materials and deployed our technical team for this weeklong statewide campaign, led by the Ibom State Tuberculosis and Leprosy Control Programme (AKSTBLCP) in collaboration with donor and implementing partners, including KNCV Tuberculosis Foundation, Center for Clinical Care and Clinical Research - CCCRN, World Health Organization Nigeria, ECEWS, The Global Fund, Nascp Fmoh and several CSOs. This partnership marked a bold step to ensure that no child is left behind in the fight against TB and HIV. As usual, we went beyond the flag off and took the message to where it is truly needed – the hard-to-reach grassroots communities.

✨ Our Gains:

🏘️ Community Mobilization & Sensitization: Our teams reached households, market squares, schools, places of worship, and community centers with lifesaving information on TB/HIV.
🚑 Access to Care for All: Our team bridged gaps by ensuring that children and caregivers in hard-to-reach villages were referred for testing, X-rays, and treatment, all cost-free.
🤝 Breaking Barriers: Where distance, finances, and lack of information stood as obstacles, Carelife stepped in to connect families with outreach teams and health facilities.
👩‍👩‍👧 Lives Transformed: Families who once faced isolation and uncertainty are now accessing early diagnosis and timely treatment, bringing hope and healing to many.

Dr Etop Antia (Director of Public Health) and Dr Bassey Akpan (Programme Manager, AKSTBLCP) Ministry of Health, Akwa Ibom State Akwa Ibom State Government, during the campaign, reinforced the urgency of detecting and treating missing child TB/HIV cases and reaffirmed that all services are free of charge.

Through these efforts, Carelife Character Foundation has touched lives, restored dignity, and strengthened communities. Together with our partners, we are making sure every child, caregiver, and family has access to quality healthcare, because Every Child’s Life Truly Matters. 💙

✨ Excellence Meets Aspiration – Gains of the IOM PROJECT✨

💡 The Ibom Open Maternity (IOM) Project delivery team had the privilege of sitting with the incredible team at ECEWS, part of our post-implementation partner Engagement. We saw excellence first-hand in action - innovation, impact, and passion that inspires us to grow and serve better. 🌍✨

We see this excellence as both an inspiration and a guide. We aspire to grow in reach and relevance, becoming an organisation to be reckoned with, one that delivers life-changing solutions with equal passion, integrity, and expertise, especially to vulnerable mothers and children in grassroots local communities through research-driven Health and education-related interventions.

As the saying goes, “To rise in any field, follow the steps of those who’ve already built the ladder.” Andy Eyo and his remarkable team have built such a ladder of excellence, and we are privileged to follow.

From Vision to Impact: Sustaining Maternal and Child Health - The Journey of the Ibom Open Maternity Project for 2025 World Breastfeeding Week - The Interim Success Story!!

The Flagship Ibom Open Maternity Project (IOM), led by Carelife Character Foundation, has been nothing short of a remarkable success. Beyond Expectations, the IOM Project Reached Twice as Many Lives.

Our mission was never to do “so much” at once but to create lasting change — bringing hope and smiles to "one mother and one child at a time".

The impact speaks for itself. With a target of 5,000 mothers and 3,000 infants across seven LGAs in Akwa Ibom State, we have far surpassed expectations — recording an extraordinary 200% reach, with an average of 1,700 mothers and infants in each LGA benefiting from our comprehensive interventions. These ranged from core clinical services to vital ancillary support.

Among the many moving stories, one stands out: in Nsit Atai LGA, a mother safely delivered her baby under the skilled care of our dedicated team — a powerful symbol of what this project represents.

This momentum has laid the foundation for our sustainability journey—ensuring that the Ibom Open Maternity Project continues to touch lives and strengthen maternal and child health for years to come.

The IOM Project is ongoing - we have reached 6 of the 7 projected LGAs for our intervention. Be part of the celebration, be part of the story. 🌍💙
