We are excited to share that Ecosteward Foundation participated in the Oxfam in Nigeria Country Strategy Co-creation Workshop (2026–2030) held in Abuja from April 13–15.

Convened by Oxfam in Nigeria , the 3-day workshop brought together key stakeholders across civil society, government, youth groups, and development partners to collaboratively shape a more inclusive and impactful development strategy for Nigeria.

At Ecosteward Foundation, we contributed to critical conversations around:
✅Climate action and environmental sustainability
🌾 Agroecology and resilient food systems
👩🏽‍🤝‍👩🏾 Women’s economic empowerment
📊 Fiscal justice and social protection
🗣️ Youth inclusion in policy and decision-making

This engagement reinforces our commitment to ensuring that youth voices and community-driven solutions remain at the heart of sustainable development.

We look forward to continued collaboration with Oxfam in Nigeria and other partners to drive meaningful change across Nigeria.

Young people are not waiting to be told what to do, they are already stepping forward and taking responsibility in their communities.

As our Programme Manager Nweze Emmanuel shared during International Youth Day at the United Nations Nigeria House in Abuja, the shift is already happening. Young people are organizing, asking the right questions, and taking action in ways that directly reflect the realities around them.

Through initiatives like and our programmes, we see this daily. When given the right support, they move beyond listening to actively shaping solutions, contributing ideas, and driving change within their schools and communities.

At Ecosteward Foundation this is why engaging young people is not an afterthought, it is central to how we work and the future we are building.

Join us as we continue creating spaces where young people can learn, contribute, and lead.

Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world. Nelson Mandela

This truth came alive during the 2025 Climate Edutainment ( ) Competition at Primark International Academy, where students turned awareness into creativity, action, and advocacy.

Through poetry, music, drama, and by Ecocykle we proved that climate education can be practical, and engaging.

At Ecosteward Foundation moments like this reaffirm why we invest in young people because when these young minds are given the right tools and space to learn, they do not just understand climate issues, they begin to see themselves as part of the solution.

Join us as we continue empowering young people to lead climate action in and

What does it really take to manage grants that deliver real impact?

For us at Ecosteward Foundation it starts with understanding people and the realities they face, then staying accountable to the purpose behind every resource entrusted to us.

Our recent learning with ActionAid Nigeria reminded us that effective grant management is not just about ticking boxes, it means being intentional about what we set out to do, staying honest about what is working and what is not, and making sure resources are used in ways that directly benefit the communities we serve.

In practice, this requires listening, adjusting when needed, and being clear about the results we are delivering.

This is the approach we continue to build on as a team, ensuring that every project we manage is thoughtful, responsible, and grounded in real impact.

Because at the end of the day, impact is not just funded, it is carefully managed and delivered.

Follow us on this journey and stay connected as we continue to improve, and deliver real impact for people and the planet.

In response to rising environmental and food insecurity challenges across Nigeria and Africa, Ecosteward Foundation, with support from Alliance for Food Sovereignty in Africa (AFSA), is bringing Agroecology Clubs to life in schools.

What were once ordinary classrooms are now spaces of action where students move beyond theory into practice. Through hands-on activities such as composting, crop rotation, and school gardens, they are building practical skills and gaining a deeper understanding of food systems, and their role in shaping a sustainable future.

Through the , these students are no longer passive learners, they are active contributors to meaningful change in their communities.

Young people are not just part of the conversation on food systems, they are championing it themselves.

Through our work with the Alliance for Food Sovereignty in Africa (AFSA), we have seen how these young people across communities are advancing agroecology as a practical, people-centered solution into today’s food and climate challenges.

From preserving indigenous seeds such as Bambara Nuts to promoting indigenous farming practices, these young changemakers are strengthening food sovereignty, protecting biodiversity, and building resilient local food systems rooted in intergenerational knowledge, and care for the land.

Real transformative solutions that are driven from the ground up, shaped by lived experience, and sustained by communities themselves.

At Ecosteward Foundation we remain committed to supporting and amplifying this growing movement of young people who are farming with nature and shaping the future of food.

Behind every impact from Ecosteward Foundation is someone who believes change is possible and chooses to show up for it.

This week, we celebrate Francisca Edeh our Programme Assistant, whose dedication and thoughtful coordination continue to strengthen the delivery of our programmes across different focus areas.

Through her steady support and attention to detail, she helps ensure that ideas are not just discussed but effectively implemented, keeping our work aligned, responsive, and impactful.

At EcoSteward Foundation, we are reminded that progress is built by people who consistently show up with purpose and commitment.

Join us in celebrating Francisca. Drop a word of appreciation in the comment box

There is no true in without women in positions of influence.

Closing the gender gap requires more than participation. It requires power, voice, and real influence.

As Ameedat Abdulsalam, Project Lead at Ecosteward Foundation, rightly puts it:
“Closing the gender gap requires intentionally creating spaces where women are not just heard, but are able to shape decisions.”

Across the communities we work with, one truth remains clear: women are already leading in environmental stewardship, from farming and resource management to building resilience. Yet, their leadership is still missing where key decisions are made.

At Ecosteward Foundation, we are intentional about changing this narrative by creating spaces where women influence decisions, shape policies, and drive solutions that are just, practical, inclusive, and sustainable.

When women lead, communities are stronger, and climate action becomes sustainable, equitable, and lasting.
