ROTARY CLUB OF ABUJA (THE GRANDFATHER) COMMISSIONS TRANSFORMED SHERETTI PRIMARY HEALTH CENTRE IN IMPACTFUL 3-IN-1 COMMUNITY PROJECT
The Rotary Club of Abuja (The Grandfather) has once again demonstrated its unwavering commitment to Service Above Self through the successful ex*****on and commissioning of a life-changing 3-in-1 Community Project at the Sheretti Primary Health Centre, Abuja.
Held on Saturday, 18 July 2026, the project addressed three of Rotary’s Areas of Focus, Maternal and Child Health, Disease Prevention and Treatment, and Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) through interventions designed to improve healthcare delivery and promote healthier communities.
Under the visionary leadership of our President, Rtn. Terver Verishima Uza, PHF, the Rotary Club of Abuja (The Grandfather) transformed a once dilapidated Primary Health Centre into a cleaner, safer, and more dignified healthcare facility for mothers, children, healthcare workers, and the entire Sheretti community.
The project was officially commissioned by the District Governor, Rtn. Sikiru Adetona Owonikoko, alongside the District Chair, Maternal and Child Health, Rtn. Dr. Samuel Usman, MON, whose presence underscored Rotary’s commitment to strengthening primary healthcare and improving maternal and child health across our communities.

The accompanying photographs tell a compelling story of transformation. The “before” images reflect the poor condition of the health facility prior to Rotary’s intervention, while the “after” images showcase a renewed, functional, and welcoming healthcare environment made possible through the dedication of Rotarians, partners, and supporters.
One of the most touching moments of the day occurred during the commissioning ceremony itself.
As members and guests gathered to celebrate the completion of the project, an expectant mother who had arrived at the health centre went into labour and safely delivered a healthy baby.
For everyone present, it was a profoundly moving moment. The very facility we had gathered to commission immediately fulfilled its purpose—providing safe maternal care at the exact moment it was needed.
It was a powerful reminder that Rotary’s work is about more than renovating buildings; it is about saving lives, restoring hope, and creating opportunities for healthier futures.
Special recognition goes to our Community Service Director and President Nominee, Rtn. Onyebuchi Ibe, whose hands-on leadership, coordination, and unwavering commitment were instrumental in the planning, ex*****on, and successful completion of this project. Her dedication ensured that every aspect of the intervention was delivered with excellence.
We also acknowledge the invaluable contributions of Past President Rtn. Dr. Khadijat Yusuf, whose guidance, support, and commitment to community service played a significant role in the successful completion of this impactful project.
The Rotary Club of Abuja (The Grandfather) extends its heartfelt appreciation to the District Governor, Rtn. Sikiru Adetona Owonikoko, the District Chair, Maternal and Child Health, Rtn. Dr. Samuel Usman, MON, our President Rtn. Terver Verishima Uza, PHF, Rtn. Onyebuchi Ibe, Past President Rtn. Dr. Khadijat Yusuf, our members, partners, donors, healthcare professionals, volunteers, and the Sheretti community for their invaluable support in making this project a resounding success.
Together, we continue to transform communities.
Together, we continue to improve lives.
Together, We Create Lasting Impact.
