CBBC Talk: Faith, Community, and Climate Action

Faith and climate action are closely connected because many faith traditions teach responsibility for caring for the Earth and protecting future generations. Communities play a vital role in addressing climate challenges by promoting environmental awareness, sustainable practices, and collective action. Through faith-based values such as stewardship, compassion, and justice, individuals and communities can work together to plant trees, reduce waste, protect natural resources and support those most affected by climate change. By combining faith, community engagement, and practical climate solutions, we can build a healthier, more resilient and sustainable future for all.

CBBC Talk: Climate change is not only an environmental challenge; it is also a social justice issue. As climate-related disasters, displacement, food insecurity, and resource scarcity increase, women and girls often face heightened risks of gender-based violence, exploitation, and inequality.

Addressing this hidden link requires climate policies and actions that are gender-responsive, inclusive, and protective of vulnerable populations. Effective climate action must empower women, promote equal participation in decision-making, strengthen community resilience, and ensure safe environments before, during, and after climate-related crises.

A sustainable future can only be achieved when climate solutions and gender justice go hand in hand. By recognizing and addressing the intersection between climate change and gender-based violence, we can build stronger, safer, and more resilient communities for all.

Key Message:
“Climate justice is incomplete without gender justice. Protecting people and the planet must go together.”
