Organization summary
New Femme is a non-profit organization that was founded in October 2020 after Alise Kazah was motivated by the desire to reach out and help women affected by the Boko haram insurgency in Nigeria. She sought to empower the women of Nigeria and support their needs and basic human rights, thus forming New Femme. New Femme is committed to teaching women to become socially, econo
mically, and politically empowered. Mission
New Femme was created with a mission to promote gender equality. We want a society where women have equal access to political, social and economic opportunities at equal rates as men. New Femme wants to ensure that society is free from all forms of gender discrimination by enacting legislative-driven solutions to make sure women’s rights are secured legally. We also plan to contribute to the improvement of the socio-economic status of women by offering microfinance, health and human development services
Who we are
New Femme is an organization working for the advancement of women in Nigeria. We seek to empower the women in Nigeria by supporting their needs thought integrated development (political, economic, social and cultural development) and the eradication of all discrimination. What we do
New Femme works to improve the lives of women in Nigeria by ensuring they have access to essential resources. We empower women using an integrated development model by financial inclusion; education; healthcare; financial literacy; access to birth control; community building and inclusion in businesses and jobs. We improve the lives of women through the effective use of data, evidence-based prevention strategies, leadership, advocacy, partnerships, and the promotion of social equity. We want women to have optimal living standards throughout Nigeria and Africa. We want to improve the lifelong well-being of individuals and communities – and inspire hope by providing the best care to every woman through integrated empowerment programmes, education and research. We believe every woman matters and that’s why we will support you regardless of age, education, income, disability, race, ethnicity, religion, marital status, sexual history, residence or health. We are very sensitive to women who have been through traumatic and life-changing events — That’s why we offer mentoring to cater to women who have been through such events. Why we do it
New Femme recognises the importance of inclusive development. We see the need to address the social, economic and political inequality in the country. We see a need for women to have basic human rights and access to resources to be empowered and help break the cycle of poverty. DeltaWomen believes that an empowered woman greatly benefits her family, community and society at large. Her family is healthier and better fed, her savings and investments increase, and her children are more likely to be educated. We want to create an equal opportunity society that addresses the challenging realities that women face because we believe it will have positive results. Evidence shows that women invest 90% of their income back into their families and communities, as opposed to men who invest only 40%. This means that a single woman can lead her household to prosperity for future generations. On the flip side, gender inequality comes at a significant economic cost as it hinders productivity and economic growth globally, [countries are losing $160 trillion in wealth](https://www.worldbank.org/en/news/press-release/2018/05/30/globally-countries-lose-160-trillion-in-wealth-due-to-earnings-gaps-between-women-and-men) because of differences in lifetime earnings between women and men. The money lost due to social inequality can be used to improve the standard of living for everyone regardless of gender. That’s why we want to tackle the issues that women face in our society. Issues such as poverty, sexism, gender-based violence, sexual violence, high unemployment and lack of affordable housing. Those changes will create a lasting, positive ripple effect for everyone. Vision
New Femme envisions a peaceful and stable Nigerian society free from all forms of gender discrimination characterized by gender equality and equity in her development process. The Mission
To contribute to the improvement of the socio-economic status of women, promoting the culture of peace for sustainable development through coordination and legislative solutions.
