Topic: Divine Support
Text: Proverbs 3:5-7
- Every system in life work on a support mechanism
Nothing stants in isolation. For instance, the body stands on skeletal, nervous, digestive, intestine systems. each working but depending on one another. The function or malfunction of one system determines the functionality of the others. scripture tells us not to depend or trust on our own selves but on God who holds the earth on unseen pillars.
Two Things to do:
Trust- There is a problem with this word; One, Trust is becoming increasingly difficult a habit to abide with by men, especially If you have ever been disappointed and betrayed. If a chair you used your money to buy and have been sitting on it for years, suddenly broke down and threw you down, then you know what i mean. Two, due to insincerity, dishonesty and deceit, people tend to disregard trust.
Therefore, the scripture is counselling us to TRUST In God with all our hearts, from the bottom of our hearts, unreservedly or completely. It is Him alone
who is unfailing, unchanging, dependable and reliable. Men are unstable as waters and changes with seasons, But God is Consistent. His yes is yea and amen.
We are also admonished to Fear him and depart from evil. No man stops evil on himself, God must be his backbone or support. This kind of fear is not to dread God but to reverence or obey Him. if you love God it can only be manifested by keeping his commandments.
What Not to do:
Lean not on your understanding - That is dangerous! trusting in yourself is like relying on a dry branch of a tree. The vine, not the branch is the strength of any tree. If Jesus is not the vine, whatever you lean on will break away attracting casualties. Even your understanding or wisdom can not sustain or take you far if God is not their sources.
