What can change when you show up and listen?

For Gakuto Han, a UN Volunteer from Japan serving with UNHCR Nigeria in Makurdi, the answer is found in the communities he serves.

From emergency assistance and solar streetlights to early warning systems, cash assistance and livelihood support, his work is helping displacement-affected communities build greater safety and resilience.

Gakuto’s experience is a reminder that meaningful change can start with three simple things: showing up, listening and serving.
