As the UNICEF-supported project in Borno State draws to a close, the conversations it sparked continue to echo across communities.

Community members, leaders, women, youth, and beneficiaries came together in an awareness and reflection session to celebrate progress made, reinforce key protection messages, and strengthen commitments to sustaining the gains achieved throughout the project. Through open dialogue, participants reflected on the importance of inclusion, community ownership, child protection, and collective responsibility in building safer and more resilient communities.

While projects may end, the knowledge, relationships, and community structures established remain powerful tools for continued growth and transformation. Together, we are ensuring that the seeds of resilience planted today continue to flourish for generations to come.

Building peace, restoring dignity, and fostering economic resilience across Northern Nigeria.

Under the FCDO-funded Strengthening Peace and Resilience in Nigeria (SPRING) program led by Tetra Tech International Development Bincike International implemented the EMPOWER project across Kaduna and Katsina states.
Through intergenerational dialogue, gender-based violence (GBV) protection mechanisms, and sustainable livelihood development, this project has transformed communities:
• Boosted women’s participation in community decision-making from 23% to 83%.
• Established 36 intergenerational conversation groups and hosted 275 dialogue sessions.
• Trained 390 vulnerable women and girls in economic resilience and business development.

They came from different sectors, different organizations, different experiences, and different journeys.

As the hall gradually filled, something remarkable began to happen.

Conversations sparked between strangers. Familiar faces reunited with warm handshakes. Development practitioners exchanged ideas with innovators. Government representatives sat alongside entrepreneurs, community leaders, partners, and changemakers. One by one, they took their seats, bringing with them not just their presence, but their belief in the power of impact, innovation, and collective action.

The room became more than a venue. It became a gathering of people united by a common conviction: that progress is possible when vision is shared and solutions are built together.

Throughout the event, every smile, every nod of agreement, every note taken, and every conversation continued long after the presentations spoke to something bigger than a launch. It reflected a community of people committed to shaping the future.

And as we looked across the audience, we were reminded that meaningful change is never built by one organization alone.

There are moments when you can feel the energy in a room before a single word is spoken.

This was one of those moments.

As guests streamed into the venue, the air carried a quiet sense of anticipation. Conversations floated between tables, introductions turned into discussions, and discussions evolved into ideas. The room slowly transformed into a living network of experience, expertise, ambition, and hope.

Then the event began.

From every corner of the hall came attentive eyes, thoughtful questions, moments of reflection, shared laughter, and enthusiastic applause. The audience was not merely observing; they were immersed in the journey. They celebrated past achievements, engaged with future aspirations, and embraced the possibilities presented through the Annual Report, Five-Year Strategic Plan, and the One Delegate App.

Looking across the room, it was impossible not to feel inspired.

Because what sat before us was more than an audience.

It was a collection of leaders, partners, innovators, advocates, builders, and believers. People who understand that impact is strongest when it is shared, and that the future is shaped by those willing to be part of it.

For a few hours, a hall became a meeting place of ideas. A launch became a conversation. And a gathering became a movement.
