The Catholic Enlightenment New Outreach Program (CATENOP) is a ‘public Enlightenment” initiative which aims to complement and support the New Evangelization agenda of the Catholic Church, by providing a host of exemplary and iconic Catholic literature teachings to the under-informed or under-served members of the public. CATENOP aims to establish a new credible Catholic education channel that will
serve many interests and aspects of the Catholic and Christian community by laying a foundation for the broadcast of teachings from renowned Catholic authors, running a robust enlightenment program and setting a trend upon which others can be encouraged to follow. The program serves to strengthen faith within Catholic communities through its teachings and attempts to close the gaps caused by the following deficiencies (Understanding gaps, Literature familiarity gaps/Ignorance, Literacy gaps, Doctrinal familiarity gaps and confidence gaps) within Nigerian Catholic communities that, if left unchecked, could contribute to a massive exodus from the church. The Initiative engages the youth in quiz competitions to test their knowledge on their faith, CATENOP’s thematic areas of interest (money, marriage, miracles, morality, spirituality, catholic Faith..) and to boost their interest and knowledge in different issues that challenges life. In the course of this Rally events, CATENOP has organized a preliminary educative and fun filled quiz competition with lots of fantastic prizes to be won and we encourage members to sign up and participate actively in our quiz. CATENOP also through their “Student Support Series” gives students of all levels of education (secondary and tertiary) the opportunity to interact with professors of higher learning, Experts, life coaches, counsellors etc for career guidance and counselling on different areas of their lives for best future results. This is done through zoom seminars in the Secondary and Tertiary institutions and other collaborative activities with Church organizations. CATENOP will be having a bigger event in October in the south east precisely Umuahia and this will be followed by some activities such as Zoom seminars, Quizzes, Lunch and distribution of our publications (Audio and Audio Visual DVDs, Words from the Elders Booklet) and the commencement of our Radio program airings.
