The Child Protection Network FCT is happy to partner with Child Protection Hub Nigeria to carry out sensitization activities in commemoration of the 2023

CPN member organizations (Child Protection Network FCT EsteemHub Society for Behavioral Therapy and Health, Dyoland recovery hub, Amen Caring Hands Center…) visited communities in Kuje and Bwari area councils.
Our collective efforts sparked open conversations of respect, equality in the schools and communities we visited. We engaged community heads on the importance of supporting for community members, especially women and children to freely express themselves.
“As we reflect on our efforts to eliminate GBV in our society, let us carry the flame of awareness forward. Let us be advocates who challenge stereotypes, allies who stand against injustice, and voices that echo the call for a world free from gender-based violence.

I am thrilled share my statement on this momentous occasion of the International Day of the 2023. Today, we celebrate the power, resilience, and potential of girls around the world.

The theme for this year's celebration, "Invest in Girls' Rights: Our Leadership, Our Wellbeing," resonates deeply with the core values of our society. It highlights the urgent need to prioritize the rights of girls, empowering them to become leaders and ensuring their overall well-being.

Investing in girls' rights means providing them with equal opportunities to education, healthcare, and protection. It means breaking down barriers that hinder their progress and limiting their potential. By doing so, we unlock a world of possibilities and pave the way for a brighter future.

Girls possess incredible leadership qualities that can drive positive change in their communities and beyond. When we invest in their leadership, we invest in a more equitable and inclusive society. Let us encourage and support girls to pursue their dreams, to voice their opinions, and to take on leadership roles. Together, we can create a world where their voices are heard and their contributions are valued.

As a child focused consortium, CPN state and non-state member organizations (such as Child Protection Hub Nigeria Cypfoundation CeceYara Fdtn Ogedegede Cdf Roxanna Ozoemena Foundation Tabitha Cumi Foundation Hope Finders etc.) invest in the girl child development through sensitization, intervention and advocacy programs in GBV, menstrual hygiene, access to education etc. Through these highly impactful initiatives, girls in the FCT are better empowered for leadership and understanding of their rights.

Furthermore, investing in girls' well-being is crucial for their holistic development. It means ensuring their physical and mental health, safeguarding them from violence, and providing a nurturing environment that fosters their growth. When girls are healthy and safe, they can thrive and fulfill their potential.

On this International Day of the Girl Child, let us recommit ourselves to the cause of girls' rights. Let us advocate for policies and programs that protect their rights, empower their leadership, and enhance their well-being. Together, we can create a society where every girl can flourish, where their dreams can become reality, and where their rights are respected and upheld.
