After a long but necessary break, we are excited to announce that Village Square Africa is back and now officially registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) as Change Initiative Towards a Better Nigeria!

This milestone marks a new chapter of credibility, structure, and a renewed commitment to creating meaningful impact across Nigeria. With our registration secured, we’re better positioned to expand our reach, deepen our initiatives, and amplify the voices that matter most.

Some members of the pioneer cohort paid a visit to Hon. Ezekiel Musa Dalhatu, the Honourable FCT Commissioner of the Public Complaint Commission yesterday.

It was a moment of great impact and shift in the minds of the villagers as they learned more about the ombudsman and it's role in bridging the gap of communication between the masses and the government.

"The commissioner encouraged the Fellows active involvement in setting and achieving generational goals In the FCT.

To become pacesetters in -healthy educational competition,
-healthy economic competition
- healthy political competition in our various communities.

He also emphasized on the need for we the fellows of The Village Square Africa to become active in community engagement in terms of positive sensitization of members of our immediate communities, creating awareness on the need for peaceful coexistence in our various communities and that we become advocates for good governance in our immediate communities.

The commissioner pledged his support and collaboration in helping us to learn as he see us as key players in the FCT leadership succession plan.
He advised the Fellows to do away with naivety, ignorance, timidity and anger." Joshua Bulus Gama

Chimezie Enuka is an Abuja based legal practitioner who facilitated our last class on "Constitutional Champions Workshop" He is the Managing Partner of Lena Partners LP.
His practice revolves around the areas of Constitutional Law, Transactional Practice and Human/Environmental Rights Protection. These practice areas have seen him do matters from the trial High Courts to the Nigerian Supreme Court.

"The village square has been very impactful I can't even lie.
I had a little insight on some of the subjects we've discussed so far but our facilitators have done justice to the subjects and I have a deeper knowledge on the issues.
The interesting part is that we've not even gotten to my areas of interest and I can't even wait.
Truly, the village square has been a valuable community so far and is already shaping my mind and giving me a deeper understanding to issues.

Yesterday we had an amazing virtual class with Maryam Aliko, our emotional intelligence facilitator.

Maryam Aliko holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacology from the University of Wales and a Master of Business Administration from Cardiff Business School, Cardiff, Wales, both in the United Kingdom. She is also a certified Addiction Counsellor and Life Coach.

Maryam started her career in AL-MAN Nigeria Limited, Kaduna State as a manager in 1995 and later moved to Nigeria Board for Technical Education, Kaduna as a Senior Planning Officer in 2001.

Thereafter, she has held various positions in different organizations including Executive Director, at Turner Building Products (Arewa) Limited (2001-2013): Visiting Lecturer, at Kaduna Business School, and Senior Special Assistant, at Baze University amongst others.

She taught the Villagers on

Self motivation
Empathy
Self regulation
