There is no gender justice without racial justice.

February is in the United States, and it’s also a time to celebrate Black history, activism, and resistance across the globe. We celebrate Black feminist leaders everywhere, because all these struggles are interconnected and we can’t achieve gender justice without them.

On this World Social Justice Day, we affirm that gender equality is the foundation of a just society. A fair world cannot exist when half its population is held back.

True justice means equal opportunities, equal voices, and equal value for all genders. We must actively dismantle the barriers—from unequal pay to gender-based violence—that perpetuate injustice.

Let’s commit to building a future where every individual can thrive, free from discrimination and bias

Global prison population hit 11.7M in 2023.

Behind this number are individuals whose lives are impacted not just by incarceration, but by how justice systems choose to approach safety and rehabilitation.

Over 3.7 million people are in pre-trial detention.
More than 1 in 10 deaths in prison are suicides.
Women face unique risks, particularly in pre-trial detention.
And overcrowding remains a global challenge, with 1 in 4 prison systems operating at over 150% capacity.

We must ensure justice systems uphold human dignity and invest in rehabilitation.

In 2025, SET4LYF was officially launched in Rwanda and Nigeria, navigating complex political, cultural, and socioeconomic contexts shaping youth education and development.

Year 1 focused on piloting the program model, building visibility, strengthening partnerships, and embedding SET4LYF within national and community systems. These early investments laid the foundation for scale, informed continuous program refinement, and secured strong institutional and stakeholder buy-in.

Impact was immediate and meaningful, with 64,153 students reached across Rwanda and Nigeria, demonstrating both demand for the model and its relevance within national youth development priorities.

In Year 2, the program will scale reach, deepen inclusion, and strengthen system integration, expanding opportunities for more young people, especially the most vulnerable, to transition successfully from school to sustainable livelihoods.
