True, the government needs to do better concerning the flooding situations in various parts of Nigeria during the raining seasons yet each Nigerian has a role to play too.

What do we do with our waste the moment it starts raining?

Most people see an opportunity to empty their waste in the drainages in front of their houses and they go as far as making an excuse, the water would drain it along.

What we never consider is the long term effects.

It's high time we rethink our everyday actions because they can have long-term devastating consequences.

According to UNICEF, 10.5 million Nigerian children between the ages of 5 and 14 are currently out of school.

For those who are enrolled, being in school is not the same as learning.

The question is not just how many children are in school, it is who is still being left out.

The child in a conflict zone, the girl from a poor household, the child with a disability or the displaced child with no school nearby.

Every barrier is different but the consequence is the same, a child whose future is being decided before they even get a chance.

At SCAAD Initiative, we believe quality education is a right for all children.

What is the biggest barrier to education for children in your community?

Did you know that some everyday act you carried out was sustainability in practise although it was never labelled as such.

The woman who reused every container instead of throwing them away. The shoe repair guy we go to when our shoes spoils instead of outrightly throwing them away. Older siblings passing down clothes to their younger ones.

That was sustainability, long before it became a trend.

The real threat is not that Nigerians don't care about the environment, it is that our throw-away culture is slowly replacing the very habits that were keeping our planet healthier.

At SCAAD Initiative, we believe environmental consciousness starts with everyday choices and not big projects or expensive technology.

Can you recall any sustainable habit you grew up with that you still practise today?

At 10, a child can carry the weight of the world and smile through it because no one taught them they could speak up.

Every child deserves more than a classroom. They deserve a safe space to be heard, to ask questions, to fail without shame, and to grow without fear.

Mentorship and counselling in schools are not extras. They are essentials.

A child who feels safe learns better, a child who is heard dreams bigger and a child who has a mentor believes that their future is actually possible.

Nigerian schools must go beyond textbooks. Our children need guidance, not just grades.

At SCAAD Initiative, we advocate for education that sees the whole child not just their performance.

Does your school have a counsellor or mentorship programme?

Did you know?

Lake Chad, one of Africa's greatest lakes, has lost nearly 90% of its size.

Millions of farmers, fishermen, women and children across Nigeria, Niger, Chad and Cameroon who depended on it for food, water and livelihoods are now facing a silent crisis.

This is not just an environmental issue: it is a human rights issue, a food security issue and a climate justice issue.

Africa did not cause this.

At SCAAD Initiative, we believe the communities bearing the heaviest cost of climate change deserve the loudest advocacy.

Did you know Lake Chad was shrinking? What do you think should be done? Tell us below

It is one thing to have access to education, and a whole different thing to get quality education.

Can we say that the quality of education in Nigeria has improved over the years?

At SCAAD Initiative, we continue to advocate for not just education for all but that each child has access to quality education.

This recent online debate caught my attention.

The debate alleged that some Nigerian graduates have a reading comprehension problem because they were not taught properly? Do you agree?
