JOS ATTACK: A MOTHER’S WORST NIGHTMARE, ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!!
The recent attack in Gari Ya Waye community, Anguwan Rukuba, in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State, which occurred on Sunday night, March 29, 2026, is a painful reminder of how unsafe many Nigerian communities have become in recent times. Reports confirm that at least 20 people were killed, while other accounts suggest the number could be even higher as more victims are yet to be identified.
This is not just another incident. It is a human tragedy that has left families shattered and mothers in unimaginable grief.
At the Women’s Inclusion, Empowerment and Leadership Development Initiative (WIELD-I), we speak from a place of deep empathy and urgency. No woman should ever have to hold her child in death. No mother should be forced to mourn a life she carried, nurtured, and loved, only to lose it to senseless violence.
What happened in Jos North is not isolated. It reflects a recurring pattern of attacks across Plateau State and other states, where communities continue to live in fear, uncertainty, and loss.
We strongly condemn this attack and call on the Federal government, state governments and security agencies to act with immediate seriousness. The continued loss of innocent lives especially Christians, shows that more must be done to prevent these killings and protect vulnerable communities.
We also call for urgent support for affected families, especially women who have lost their children and loved ones. Their pain must not be ignored. Their voices must not be silenced.
At WIELD-I, we stand firm in our belief that every woman deserves the right to raise her child in peace and safety.
No woman should ever have to bury her child because of violence.
We will continue to speak, to demand accountability, and to advocate until the lives of women and children are truly protected.
