IAWPA Launches Peace Campaign in Burundi

The International Association of World Peace Advocates has launched a peace campaign in Burundi, where Évariste Ndayishimiye was honoured for his role in promoting peace.

The event, held in Bujumbura, also featured the inauguration of the IAWPA Burundi Directorate led by P. Amb. Nduwimana Jean Claude, and the appointment of new Eminent Peace Ambassadors.

IAWPA said the initiative supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, especially peace and strong institutions, and aims to promote unity and development across Burundi.

World Cancer Day Observance – Yenagoa, Bayelsa State (4th February 2025)

The International Association of World Peace Advocates (IAWPA) successfully marked World Cancer Day on 4th February 2025 in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State. The observance featured a cancer awareness road walk from Ekeki Park to Bayelsa Specialist Hospital, aimed at educating the public on cancer prevention, early detection, and the importance of collective action.

Brief Report on the Commemoration of the UN International Day of the Abolition of Modern Slavery
Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso | 1 December 2025

The International Association of World Peace Advocates (IAWPA) participated in the commemoration of the United Nations International Day of the Abolition of Modern Slavery in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. The delegation was led by Amb. Dr. Vivian Anyanwu, alongside four other delegates.

A conference was held at Sonia Hotel, Ouagadougou, with speeches and discussions involving IAWPA delegates, students, religious leaders, and the Inspector General of Police from the municipal authority. Key discussions focused on modern slavery and human trafficking.

The delegation also paid courtesy visits to the South African and Nigerian Embassies, where discussions were held on collaboration to combat modern slavery.

The event highlighted the continued global challenge of modern slavery and the importance of cooperation, awareness, and strong enforcement. IAWPA reaffirmed its commitment to advocacy, education, protection of victims, and continuous sensitization.

IAWPA Names Federal University of Environment In Ogoni Land As Africa Climate Center on SDG

The International Association of World Peace Advocates (IAWPA) has appointed the Federal University of Environment and Technology, Ogoni as the Africa Climate Center on Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).

According to a statement signed by Amb. Emmanuel Nkweke, International Spokesman of IAWPA, the appointment is a recognition of the university's commitment to promoting environmental sustainability and clean energy.

Amb. Nkweke further commended the Pioneer Vice Chancellor of the university Prof Prince Charles Mmon for chatting a positive course for the university. "With what the Vice Chancellor Prof Prince Mmon is putting in place at the university , we believe that the university is on the right path and will aid the cleaning up of the environment " the statement stressed.

The statement commended the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration for approving the establishment of the University of Environment and Technology, Ogoni, describing it as a significant milestone in the pursuit of sustainable development in Africa.

As the Africa Climate Center on SDG, the university will provide a platform for research, innovation, and capacity building on climate change mitigation and adaptation. Staff and students will have opportunities to attend UN conferences and events promoting clean environment and sustainable development.

IAWPA will facilitate visits from international agencies and UN organizations involved in environmental health to support the university's growth and development.

The appointment is expected to contribute significantly to the achievement of the SDGs in Africa and beyond.

The statement further said that the appointment will be formally presented to the Vice Chancellor on Monday the 25th of January at the university as part of efforts of the association to observe the forthcoming United Nations International Day of Education. The presentation of the award according to Amb Emmanuel Nkweke will be led by Amb. Prof. Felix Obujafa who is the Head of Research and development of IAWPA. He is also the Proprietor and Chancellor of Erudite University of Jos, Plateau state, Nigeria.
