Across Europe, countries are pulling back on classroom screens and reinvesting in books and handwriting

Sweden is the clearest example. Meanwhile, Nigeria is racing toward fully digital exams while 28 million children have no classroom to walk into at all. This isn’t handwriting vs. digital; it’s readiness vs. assumption. Before we argue about which tech belongs in schools, we have to make sure every child has a school. That’s the work.

Yet 10.5 million more are locked out.

And the gap isn’t closing, it’s growing. By 2050, 1 in 13 births worldwide will happen in Nigeria. Every year we wait, more children fall through the cracks.

As we step into July, we’re reminded that every book placed in a child’s hands, every classroom rebuilt, every displaced child who gets to say “I go to school” is a small act of restoration.

This month, we recommit to our mission: education for every displaced child, no matter where they’ve had to start over.
