Life overseas vs. life in one's homeland.
Life overseas isn't particularly easy. Let's reduce the unnecessary financial strain on your Loved ones. Being overseas doesn't mean they have endless resources. They work hard for every dollar, euro, and pound.
I recently heard a heartbreaking story about a Nigerian abroad who collapsed and died due to:
1. Stress from handling multiple jobs and schoolwork
2. Pressure to pay school fees
3. Relentless requests for money from family members, which he couldn't refuse without feeling guilty.
As he passed away, did the world come to standstill? Did his family members consider dying with him?
You might not know if your "uncle" or "sister" has regularized their immigration status or is struggling.
If you're overseas, please take care of yourself, help when you can, and know your limits. Don't overpromise; it's okay to say "no." If you're back home, be content and moderate your requests. Remember, it's cold outside, and your Loved ones are working hard. Instead of adding to their stress, encourage their resilience.
