We are excited to welcome Olamide Faloore ()as one of our Artist-in-Residence at Kuta Arts Foundation.

Olamide is a Lagos-based visual artist and curator whose practice explores identity, transformation, and the emotional experiences of emerging Black adulthood. Working with oil painting, mixed media, and installation, his work draws from Yoruba cultural symbolism, particularly the philosophical language of masquerades, using the mask as a metaphor for becoming, visibility, vulnerability, and resilience.

During his residency, Olamide hopes to reconnect with his roots in Abeokuta through research, field exploration, and studio experimentation, while developing new visual narratives around memory, water, and belonging.

We look forward to supporting his creative journey during his time with us.

Last Friday, February 13th, 2026, we hosted Duke Asidere ( ) as our Canvas Club guest facilitator for the second itinerant at the Art & Industrial Design Department, Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta.

The session, led by Duke Asidere on Figurative Abstraction, began with questions from the participants that prompted Duke Asidere to share his long years practice which evolved into his exploration of figurative abstraction.

Afterwards, the session continued with an explorative practical workshop where he demonstrated his drawing and painting with the use of color in expressing an idea or thoughts.

The participants were divided into groups and each person from the group modeled while the group created an abstract drawing of the model under the guidance of Duke Asidere.

Last week, We welcomed Nathaniel Goodnews as one of our Artists-in-Residence for February.

Nathaniel was born and raised in Kogi State, Nigeria, and studied Fine and Applied Arts at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. His practice explores ethereal storytelling, using the human feet as a metaphor for movement, direction, and self-agency.

During his residency, he plans to immerse himself in Abeokuta’s history and everyday life, researching local narratives and the city’s rich newspaper culture, particularly known as Iwe Iroyin.

was drawn to Kuta’s vibrant creative community, and looks forward to a period of deep exploration, experimentation, and growth.

We’re excited to present Chiamaka Praise, who joined us last week as one of our Artists-in-Residence for February.

Chiamaka exhibited artistic abilities from a very young age and pursued her passion by furthering her education in arts. She is a first-class graduate of fine and applied arts (painting), Imo State University, Owerri.
chiamaka_ explores the concept of time and its relationship to human existence and relationships, using oil and acrylics. She reflects on different seasons of life and how time acts as a silent change in human life. A recurring element in her practice is numbers and petals, which serve as a metaphor for time, showing how it’s different for everyone, and it waits for no one.

Chiamaka’s works have been featured in local and international magazines, such as Mbari, Polemicalzine. etc.

During her residency, Chiamaka looks forward to deepening her creative process, creating works that connect with everyday experiences, and engaging with the Kuta community through collaboration, experimentation, and shared learning.

This fully funded residency is made possible by Residency Re-sourced Goethe.
