BRIEFS AND REPORTS OF IPAi HIKING 2024

Today, Thursday, December 12th, 2024, we, Ipara Progressive Associates Initiative, as organizers, held the inaugural Hiking event, incorporated into the annual Oguola Day Celebrations as an innovative development for total well-being.

As anticipated, we led all participants through historic, breathtaking trails, entering through bush paths cleared for this event via Agita area of Ipara Remo. Initially, we gathered all participants at the town area and conducted health checks, including blood pressure, to assess their fitness for the exercise. Subsequently, the coordinator, Dr. Adeboye Osoname, called for group photographs, and the journey commenced.

We traversed the Onipara Road, linked to Oke Aro Street, and emerged at Oke Adisa, from where we entered Lisa River. We caught sight of Apowo River and enjoyed a panoramic view of Agita land, a glimpse of Akuro via Saapade, including the radio mast, and even parts of the Lagos/Ibadan Expressway.

We continued through Isamo farms, reaching the far back of Ipara Community High School. We paused at a bamboo rest stop overlooking Paja River and the distant Egbere farms, before exiting at Ayetoro Street.

From there, we trekked back to the town hall for the concluding part of the program and entertainment.

Throughout the hike, we established two major relief points for relaxation and potential exits. At these points, we enjoyed cooked unpeeled cocoyam with fresh palm oil. At the second relief point, we indulged in roasted grasscutter with freshly tapped palm wine.

We encountered numerous rivers, where we refreshed ourselves by drinking, washing our faces, legs, hands, and heads. The cool river water was a welcome respite from the hot weather.

The total hiking distance exceeded 5 kilometers, offering a fun and adventurous experience that will be remembered for a long time.

We savored delicious local treats, including bushmeat, roasted cocoyam, and palm wine, along with refreshments like glucose, sweets, and chewing gum.

We successfully included both male and female participants in this memorable Oguola Day 2024 adventure.
