PRESS RELEASE ON THE SUBSTANTIVE CHAIRMAN OF OGUN JONAPWD

It has come to the attention of the Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities (JONAPWD), Ogun State Chapter, that Dr. Micheal Ebonhor has continued to parade himself as the Chairman of the Association. Consequently, the Association wishes to make the following clarifications to members of the disability community, stakeholders, partners, and the general public:

1. Dr. Micheal Ebonhor is a member of the Blind Cluster under Ogun State JONAPWD and assumed office as Chairman of Ogun State JONAPWD on 21st July, 2022.

2. The entire members of the National Association of the Blind (NAB), Ogun State Chapter, were suspended by the National Association of the Blind through a letter addressed to the Secretary of Ogun State JONAPWD as a result of unresolved internal crises within Ogun NAB.

3. Despite several reconciliation meetings held both internally and externally, the crisis within Ogun NAB has continued to deepen and remains unresolved till date.

4. The lingering crisis has caused several setbacks to Ogun State JONAPWD and negatively affected members of the disability community in Ogun State.

5. After exhausting all reconciliation efforts without any meaningful resolution, the Cluster Heads of Ogun State JONAPWD deemed it necessary to suspend all members of Ogun State NAB. This decision was reached at a meeting attended by Dr. Micheal Ebonhor and other members of NAB.

6. Dr. Micheal Ebonhor is fully aware that Ogun NAB has been suspended and that, by implication, he was relieved of his position as Chairman of Ogun State JONAPWD, pending the resolution of the crisis within Ogun NAB.

7. This suspension was duly communicated to the National Body of JONAPWD in Abuja and was formally acknowledged.

8. Following this development, an interim leadership led by Mr. Femi Adeosun and other Executive Council members was immediately inaugurated to oversee the affairs of the Association pending the resolution of the Ogun NAB crisis.

9. It therefore came as a rude shock to Ogun State JONAPWD that Dr. Micheal Ebonhor, during an agricultural programme unknown to the Association, introduced himself as the Chairman of Ogun State JONAPWD.

10. For the purpose of clarity and proper information to the disability community and the general public, Dr. Micheal Ebonhor is NOT the Chairman of Ogun State JONAPWD and is not accredited or authorized to represent Ogun State JONAPWD at any function, programme, or occasion.

11. Any media house, organisation, NGO, agency, or institution dealing with Dr. Micheal Ebonhor in the capacity of Chairman of Ogun State JONAPWD should note that such engagement is not with Ogun State JONAPWD.

12. Consequently, the National Body and Ogun State Chapter of JONAPWD are advised to desist from communicating with, inviting, or recognizing Dr. Micheal Ebonhor as Chairman of Ogun State JONAPWD.

13. In the interest of peace and harmony within the disability community in Ogun State, Ogun State JONAPWD hereby implores Dr. Micheal Ebonhor to desist from parading himself as the Chairman of Ogun State JONAPWD.

Thank you.

*Signed*

Valentine Get-Together that Promotes Health Awareness, Love, and Unity

On 14th February 2026, members of the association came together for a memorable and impactful Valentine Get-together focused on love, unity, and personal well-being.

The event featured two representatives from the Ogun State Agency for the Control of AIDS (SACA), who delivered an informative session on HIV/AIDS awareness. They educated members on prevention methods, shared important dos and don’ts, and demonstrated the correct use of condoms. The session was highly interactive, with members actively participating in a question and answer segment. At the end of the sensitization, male and female condoms, along with lubricants, were distributed to support safe practices.

Speaking at the gathering, the Acting Chairman, Mr. Olufemi Adeosun, emphasized the importance of unity, cooperation, and genuine love among members as key drivers for the association’s growth. He also encouraged self-love, confidence, and personal responsibility without over-dependence on others.

Additionally, Mrs. Ileyemi facilitated an open discussion on marital and relationship matters. Members freely shared their experiences and challenges, while practical advice and solutions were collectively explored in a supportive environment.

The event was both enlightening and engaging, strengthening bonds among members while promoting health education and emotional well-being.

We sincerely appreciate everyone who attended and contributed to the success of the program. Your presence and cooperation continue to move our association forward.

Signed:
Olufemi Adeosun
Acting Chairman
