THE END OF A GREATER BEGINNING

A Tribute to Our Distinguished Local Government Area Chairmen

As your respective tenures draw to a close, we, the Federated Izzi Law Students Association (FILSA), deem it necessary to pause and express our profound gratitude and appreciation for your invaluable contributions to our Association, our students, and the wider community.

To our distinguished Chairmen of Abakaliki Local Government Area (Hon.Ebere Nwogba), Ebonyi Local Government Area (Hon.Chinedu Uburu), and Izzi Local Government Area (Hon.Steve Nwakpa), we say a very big thank you.

Thank you for your open doors, your accessibility, your generosity, and, most importantly, for the confidence you reposed in young people and in the leadership of FILSA. Your support has gone beyond mere words; it has been demonstrated through your actions, encouragement, counsel, and willingness to identify with the aspirations and challenges of our students.

Your various leadership styles have taught us valuable lessons about service, responsibility, humility, compassion, and the importance of putting people first. Through your stewardship, we have witnessed that true leadership is not merely about occupying an office, but about leaving behind positive footprints in the lives of those one encounters.

We are particularly grateful for the love and support you have shown to FILSA. Your contributions have strengthened our resolve to pursue excellence, uphold the dignity of our Association, and remain committed to the welfare and development of our members.

As the baton of leadership is passed to another generation, we are reminded that tenures may come to an end, but legacies endure. The offices you occupied may eventually be handed over, but the impact of your service, the lives you touched, and the memories you created will remain with us.

The baton is passed, but the footprints remain.

On behalf of the entire membership and leadership of the Federated Izzi Law Students Association (FILSA), I sincerely commend and appreciate each of you for your service and dedication. We celebrate your achievements, acknowledge your sacrifices, and honour the indelible marks you have left during your respective tenures.

As you transition from office, we wish you greater opportunities, renewed strength, wisdom, and continued relevance in your future endeavours. May your next chapter be even more remarkable than the one you are concluding, and may God Almighty continue to guide, protect, and elevate you to greater heights of leadership and service.

Thank you for serving. Thank you for supporting us. Thank you for believing in us. Most importantly, thank you for leaving a legacy worthy of remembrance.

The end of a tenure is not the end of the journey; it is the beginning of another chapter of greater possibilities.

With profound respect and gratitude,

Agu Benedict Chidera
President

Dear Filsanites,

Our attention has been drawn to a very disturbing and disappointing trend among some of our girls the continuous persuasion and influence to record n**e videos of themselves and send to boys under the guise of “love,” “trust,” or relationship commitments.

This is deeply concerning.

To every girl child, we urge you to pause and think about the consequences before taking such actions. Ask yourself: what happens if tomorrow the relationship ends? Will you be able to withstand the emotional, psychological, and reputational damage that may follow? Do not make yourself vulnerable or become a victim of circumstances you could have avoided.

Think about your future. Think about the life you intend to live. What if tomorrow you aspire for public office and this becomes an obstacle? What if you are about to settle into marriage and your past resurfaces in a way that brings pain and embarrassment? Some decisions may take only minutes to make, but their consequences can last a lifetime.

To those who are involved in pressuring, requesting, or encouraging such acts, we strongly appeal to you to desist immediately because going forward we may not take it likely with any accused person involved in that ACT. Exploiting trust in this manner is wrong and unacceptable.

As Filsanites, we must uphold dignity, self respect, and responsibility. Let us protect ourselves and one another.

Any FILSAnite who has been a victim or is currently facing such threatening challenges should please feel free to report to the Office of the FILSA SA on Gender Equality. Be assured that proactive steps will be taken to address the situation and prevent future occurrences. You are not alone.

Let us be wise. Let us be careful. Let us protect our future.
