Supporting Palestine at UN while Nigeria burns hypocritical – Igbo group to Tinubu, Shettima

A concerned Igbo group, the Igbo National Union-Worldwide, INU-W, has flayed the Nigerian government for supporting the call for the political recognition of Palestinian State by the United Nations during the 80th UN General Assembly, UNGA’80 in New York.

The pressure group said the speech made by Vice President of Nigeria, Kashim Shettima, who stood in for President Bola Tinubu, at UNGA’80, was out of place, as several persons are languishing in prisons in Nigeria because of their civil agitations for self independence.

INU-W in a press release signed and made available to the media through its Admin Secretary, Mazi Austin-Mary Ndukwu, explained that the call was very belittling and uncalled for, given that Nigeria does not believe in self independence even though the clause for self determination is respectively embedded in the UN and Nigeria constitutions.

“Among issues raised were for Africa to have a slot as a permanent member of the Security Council and also the recognition of Palestine as an independent States. It is on these two vexing issues that Igbo National Union World-wide is worried about.

“INU-W worries stemmed from the high rate of insecurity bedeviling the continent of Africa and Nigeria in particular. Wars, terrorism, banditry, kidnapping and abduction for ransom, among others, cannot guarantee a seat for Africa, specifically Nigeria at the UN.” the release stated.

The Admin Secretary of the group asserted that Nigeria with the highest rate of insecurity, criminality and corruption prevalent in almost all the 36 states and FCT, does not have the moral justification and capacity to be admitted into the Security Council as a permanent member.

“Charity they say, begins at home. Nigeria must first fix the insecurity issues in her county which have taken the lives of a larger chunk of her population and wanton destruction of property and public infrastructure.

“The most significant and symbolic item presented by Nigeria at the meeting was her tacit recognition of a Palestine States. Therefore, the question being asked by Igbo National Union World-wide is; did Nigeria take such a step on the basis that it saw other countries doing it or that it suddenly recognized the importance of freedom for indigenous peoples?” the group asked.

Ndukwu described the call for recognition of Palestinian State as an individual decision taken by the Vice President in solidarity with his Muslim brothers?
He hinted that it is a game of double standard for Nigeria to wake up overnight and begin championing the freedom of indigenous peoples outside Africa while several groups agitating for self determination are made to languish in various correctional facilities and police cells in the country.

The group advised Tinibu’s led administration to purge itself from what they described as hypocrisy by releasing all prisoners of conscience.

IPOB: Igbo National Union urges fairness in Nnamdi Kanu’s trial

By Ugochukwu Alaribe

UMUAHIA — The Igbo National Union – Worldwide (INU-W) has called on the Federal Government to ensure fairness in the ongoing trial of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

In a statement issued by its Administrative Secretary, Mazi Austin Mary-Ndukwu, the group urged the government to avoid the use of compromised witnesses or questionable evidence, stressing that justice must be seen to be done.

The organisation expressed concern over the September 26 ruling by Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court, Abuja, which struck out the “no case submission” filed by Kanu’s legal team. It noted that the decision raised fears of bias and appealed for equal treatment under the law.

According to the group, other high-profile cases such as that of Sunday Igboho and certain individuals facing terrorism allegations have been handled differently, a situation it described as inconsistent. INU-W urged the Federal Government to extend the same principles of fairness and justice to Kanu’s case.

The statement further called on IPOB members, the Igbo community, and Nigerians of goodwill to remain calm and avoid protests or demonstrations that could jeopardise the work of Kanu’s legal team. It warned that such actions might be counter-productive and could create further tension.

“This period calls for sober reflection by Ndigbo on our identity, existence, and survival within the Nigerian federation,” the group stated, while reiterating its appeal for a just and transparent trial process.

“I Am Not a King in Ghana, I Am Just Eze Ndígbo” – Eze Ndígbo in Ghana Speaks to VDM

When Verydarkman (VDM) visited the palace of the Eze Ndígbo in Ghana, the leader took time to clear the air on many things people say online about him.

First, he explained that the title Eze Ndígbo does not mean “king” in Ghana. It is simply a cultural leadership position created to help Igbos in the diaspora stay united and keep their traditions alive.

> “Our Ghanaian hosts understand this very well, and that is why we are living peacefully here,” he said.

The Eze also revealed that there has been an Eze Ndígbo in Ghana for more than 30 years, and he is not the first. His only “crime,” according to him, is that he won the election in 2013 against some people who have since been spreading false stories about him.

He explained further:

The Yoruba in Ghana have their Oba.

Other communities, including Moroccans and Chinese, also have their cultural leaders.

Igbo people having an Eze Ndígbo is not strange or threatening to anybody.

On the viral video of an “Igbo village,” he clarified that the project started in 2013 but never materialized because the land was under dispute. The idea was to create a place with schools, a shopping mall, and cultural centers—just like the Chinese have their Chinatown in Ghana.

> “If we had succeeded, it would have been a place of pride, not a kingdom inside another man’s country,” he explained.

He also spoke on his relationship with Nigerian monarchs:

> “When the Ooni of Ife or any other Nigerian king visits, I step down from this seat and they take over. I become their subject, because I am not a king. I don’t even parade myself as a king when I travel to Nigeria.”

On the issue of locked Igbo shops in Ghana, he explained that it was due to Ghana’s trade laws that forbid foreigners from retail trading. Many Igbo traders were forced into retail because local buyers often refused to pay after supplies. Yet, while foreigners from other countries also retail, the law seems to affect Igbos more.

> “I have been meeting with authorities, and things are already getting better,” he said with confidence.

Finally, he pointed out that the house people call his “palace” is actually his personal home, which he built long before becoming Eze Ndígbo.

> “I built it because God blessed me as a businessman. Later, I was chosen as Eze Ndígbo, but that doesn’t make me a king.”

He ended by stressing one thing: his mission is to preserve Igbo culture, unite his people, and keep good relations with their Ghanaian hosts.

💥BREAKING! Wife of the Nepalese Prime Minister has Kpai after protesters set fire to the presidential palace and she was there in a locked room

The finance minister was stripped and drowned. Several government officials were beaten up and their mansions burned down. The luckier ones reportedly fled in choppers. 🚁.

Nigerians are currently in a serious argument if such protest is ever possible in Nigeria as a similar scenario had already taken place Kenya in recent past.
