NDI AGALABA IBE M, THIS IS THE MOMENT TO TALK ABOUT THE REPRESENTATION WE DESERVE
Now that the ban on campaigns for the Governorship and House of Assembly elections has been lifted, I believe this is the right time for us to begin talking to ourselves as brothers and sisters of Agalaba about the kind of representation we want in 2027.
This is not about politics of hatred, it is not about attacking anybody, and it is not about saying that other people are not qualified. It is simply about asking ourselves one important question: who can give Agalaba the kind of representation that will bring real progress and open more opportunities for our people?
For me, that person is Hon. Kelechi Seth Ebere.
I am supporting Seth because I see in him three important qualities that we should be looking for in the person who will represent us: competence, credibility and capacity.
Agalaba needs somebody who understands what representation really means. The House of Assembly is not a place where somebody goes just to answer Honourable Member. It is a place where laws are made, policies are discussed, government activities are scrutinized and the interests of our people are presented.
We need someone who can stand there and speak for Agalaba with confidence. Someone who can understand what is happening around him and know how to bring opportunities back home.
That is where I see Seth differently.
He is a young man, and I believe his age is an advantage. He understands the realities of today's young people because he is also part of this generation. He understands the struggle for education, employment, business opportunities, skills and a better future.
Our youths do not only need somebody who will remember them during election. They need somebody who understands their challenges and can use his position to create opportunities for them.
The same thing applies to our women.
Our women are doing a lot for our communities. Many of them are traders, entrepreneurs, farmers, mothers and business owners. They need representation that will remember them when decisions are being made.
And this is not something I am saying only because Seth is contesting election. Through the Seth Free Foundation, he has already started touching lives and supporting people, including women and young people.
If someone is already showing concern for the people before getting into government, imagine what can happen when that person gets the opportunity to operate from the State House of Assembly.
Another important thing we must look at is synergy.
Politics is about relationships and positioning. We should not deceive ourselves about this.
Seth is contesting under the ruling party at the state level. If Governor Alex Otti returns for a second term in 2027, as we are all working towards, it will be an advantage for Agalaba to have a representative who belongs to the same political family and can work directly with the administration.
This does not mean that representation should be based only on political party. No. It means we should understand how government works and position ourselves where our people can benefit.
Agalaba needs a representative who can build a strong working relationship with the Governor, members of the State Executive Council, lawmakers and other relevant government institutions.
That kind of relationship can help us attract government attention, projects, empowerment programmes, appointments and other opportunities that can benefit our people.
And let us be honest with ourselves, Agalaba should not be left behind when opportunities are being shared.
We need somebody who can go to the House of Assembly and not just sit down, but understand the importance of the position and use it to negotiate, advocate and push for the interest of our people.
With the right support, Seth can also grow within the Assembly and take up important responsibilities and positions that will give him greater influence to represent Agalaba. We are not looking for somebody who will only be present at plenary. We are looking for someone who can become an important voice in the Assembly and make Agalaba proud.
This is why I keep talking about competence, credibility and capacity.
Competence to understand the job.
Credibility to earn the confidence of the people.
Capacity to turn opportunities into results.
My support for Seth is not because he is the only young man from Agalaba. There are many capable young people from our constituency.
But when you look at his exposure, his understanding of people, his willingness to support others, his relationship with the younger generation, his work through the Seth Free Foundation and the political platform he is coming through, you will understand why many of us believe he deserves our support.
This election should not be about fighting ourselves.
We are all brothers and sisters from Agalaba.
After the election, whether you supported Seth or another candidate, we will still meet at home. Our children will still attend the same schools. Our people will still face the same challenges.
So let us make this election about ideas, capacity and the future of our constituency.
Agalaba needs development.
Agalaba needs opportunities.
Agalaba needs stronger representation.
Agalaba needs a voice that will be heard.
And I believe Hon. Kelechi Seth Ebere has what it takes to provide that representation.
The opportunity is here. The political environment is right. The relationship with the state government can be beneficial. The youth have somebody who understands their generation, our women have somebody who has already shown concern for them, and the constituency has the opportunity to produce a representative who can grow into an influential voice in the Assembly.
Let us give competence a chance.
Let us give credibility a chance.
Let us give capacity a chance.
Let us give Seth a chance to represent Agalaba.
