Spring is stimulating the young bucks to contest their power.
Several new lambs survived the constant pressure by predators, in our mountains mainly leopard. They are looking forward to contribute to the populations by bringing new life.

Winter in central highlands of Namibia

Unlike in northern temperate Europe and North America life is still thriving under the southern winter sun. Clear blue skies and midday temperatures way above 10°C, an abundance of grass and water, thanks to the massive summer rains.
Herds of Eland, Kudu, Oryx, Zebra, Black and Blue Wildebeest roam the plains and mountains. Roan, Sable and Waterbuck groups enjoy the sun after the cold nights. Duiker and Steenbuck sneak through the bushes and the young Springbuck, Blessbuck and Blackface Impala rams test their power.
It’s the ideal time for hunting.
Sitting at the fireplace in the middle of the Milky Way at night; the true African experience.

Nicht nur Großwild ist bei uns zu Hause. Pünktlich zu Ostern zeigte sich ein Hase bei uns auf dem Hof.

Not only big game is living in our farm.
As Easter approaches, a hare visited our yard.

Was für eine Woche, endlich der ersehnte Regen, mehr als 100mm in einer Nacht. Einige Dämme sind übergelaufen, aber alle haben gehalten. Ein paar Pads sind nicht befahrbar, aber das nehmen wir gerne in Kauf. Und noch weiterere Niederschläge sind in Aussicht.
Weite Teile Namibias hatten endlich substanzielle Regenmengen, was für den Grundwasserspiegel, die gesamte Natur und Landwirtschaft große Erleichterung bringt. Wer sein Land gut gemanagt hat, dem blüht jetzt ein dichtgrünes Veld.

What a week. Heavy downpour of more than 100 mm overnight brought some of the dams to overflow, but none collapsed. A few pads are not passable, but that’s a minor issue.
And still more rain is expected. A great relief for groundwater levels, nature and agriculture, as a great part of the country got substantial rain.
Who had cared for the rangeland is now blessed with flowering grasslands.

Ein vielversprechender Anblick heute Morgen auf der Panorama Hunting Ranch präsentiert eine der Sable Gruppen zwei kleine Kälber. Besonders interessant die Kuh links mit extrem weiten und langen Hörnern. Vielleicht sehen wir ja in den nächsten Jahren so einen Bullen. Zahlreiche starke Trophäenträger streifen durch unsere Berge. Wer dem Einerlei des Alltags entfliehen möchte, der kann hier bei uns die Natur mit allen Sinnen erleben.
Noch sind in diesem Jahr ein paar Termine frei.

A very promising view today on Panorama Hunting Ranch: one of the small sable groups (three cows, one bull) presented two young calves. Also we saw again the very interesting cow with extremely large and wide horns (on the right). Hope she will have some male offspring in the future!
Of course capital bulls are roaming the hills, as well as Roan, Kudu, Oryx, Eland, Wildebeest, Waterbuck and others.
If you want to escape the daily hassle and experience nature with all your senses don’t hesitate. A few dates are still open for this year. We would to hunt with you our plains and mountains.

INFORMATION WANTED

A horrific incident has endangered the lives of Cape Cormorants, a species that has been listed as an endangered species due to its decline in population during the last three decades.

If you have any information on the horrific act that took place on January 17, 2025, at Canopy, Dorob National Park, please come forward. A reward of N$10,000 is offered for leads resulting in the successful identification, arrest, and prosecution of those responsible.

The first substantial rains at the start of the new year 2025 let life thrive. Wildebeest gave birth to new calves, as well as Sable, Eland and other species. We were blessed as the dams got relevant influx and the grass is growing.
