We are pleased to announce that we will be co-hosting the upcoming 2nd Southern African Conference on To***co Taxation (SACOTT) together with the Centre for Trade Policy and Development, Zambia, on 10–11 September 2026 in Windhoek, Namibia.

The conference will be held under the theme:

"From Dependency to Domestic Resource Mobilization: Strengthening To***co Tax Systems to Combat Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs)."

This regional conference will bring together policymakers, researchers, civil society organizations, public health experts, tax administrators, and development partners from across Southern Africa and beyond to share evidence, strengthen collaboration, and advance effective to***co taxation policies that improve public health while increasing domestic resource mobilization.

Join us as we build on the momentum of the inaugural conference and work towards a healthier, more sustainable, and self-reliant Southern Africa.

The Namibia Development Foundation (NAMDEF) is pleased to announce its participation in the Tax Justice Network Africa (TJNA) Health Tax Advocacy in Africa Kick-off Meeting, which will take place in Johannesburg, South Africa, from 28 to 31 July 2026.

Recognizing the importance of this initiative and its alignment with NAMDEF's commitment to promoting public health and sustainable development, the Foundation will be represented by a two-member delegation comprising Ms Constance Mazeingo, Programme Manager, and Mr Tapiwa Nicholas Matandaudhle, Finance Manager.

Their participation will enable NAMDEF to contribute to regional dialogue, exchange best practices, and strengthen partnerships with civil society organizations and technical partners working to advance health tax advocacy in Africa.

Tax Justice Network Africa (TJNA) will convene civil society organisations and technical partners in Johannesburg, South Africa, from the 28th to the 31st of July 2026, for the kick-off meeting of its Health Tax Advocacy in Africa, marking the formal launch of the organisation’s Health and Tax Strategic Focus Area (SFA).

Through this SFA, TJNA seeks to strengthen policy advocacy for the taxation of health-harming products to curb harmful consumption, generate sustainable financing for health systems, and prevent non-communicable diseases.

The initiative comes at a critical time for Africa. Rising debt obligations, declining development assistance, and increasing demand for essential public services are placing significant pressure on national budgets. At the same time, the growing burden of non-communicable diseases is increasing healthcare costs, reducing productivity, and deepening financial hardship for households, particularly among low-income and vulnerable communities.

Driving Responsible Gambling through collaboration.

Today, the NAMDEF Responsible Gambling Task Force Committee convened to review progress, share insights, and strengthen collaborative efforts aimed at promoting responsible gambling across Namibia.

Through continued engagement and strategic partnerships, the Committee remains committed to raising awareness, encouraging informed decision-making, and fostering safer gambling practices that protect individuals, families, and communities.

The Namibia Development Foundation (NAMDEF) is seeking to recruit a suitably qualified and motivated young professional for the position of Junior Advocacy and Policy Officer.

The successful candidate will support legal and policy research, advocacy initiatives aimed at reducing the harmful use of to***co in Namibia.

The position is suited to a recent graduate with a strong interest in public health, economic justice, policy reform and stakeholder engagements.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

> Bachelor's Degree in Social Science.
> Recent graduate or up to one year of relevant experience.
> Demonstrated interest in public policy, public health, legislative reform through academic work, internships, volunteer work or student leadership activities

The successful candidate will contribute to evidence-based decision-making, donor reporting, and programme performance tracking.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

> Bachelor's Degree in Public Health, Social Science, M&E, Statistics and related field.
> Minimum of two (2) years experience in M&E, research, data management or programme implementation..
> Experience working with donor-funded projects will be an added advantage.
