On this Feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, may we be ANCHORED IN CHRIST

My beloved family, you may wonder why do we exalt an instrument of death? The reason behind exalt the Holy Cross is because Jesus turned it into a bridge to life. The Cross is anchor, like an anchor holds a ship in a storm, the Cross holds us when peer pressure, anxiety, heartbreak, and sin try to pull us away.

Carry your wounds, your struggles, your desires you cannot master - bring them to the Cross. Let us not perceive the Cross - through the eyes of this world - as defeat, but learn to see it as Victory. The Cross is not just pain - it is love that went all the way, meant to be shared with many. It is our anchor.

When life shakes you, when you feel lost, lonely, anxious, hopeless, or tempted - look at the Cross. Do not doubt that through the Cross you are ANCHORED in Christ.

Challenge for today: Kiss your crucifix/rosary and whisper "Thank you Lord, Thank you Jesus"🙏🏾. Carry it proudly.

May St Eugene intercede for us, that we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ!🙏🏾

South Africa: Youth Day and Oblate Mission with Youth — June 16 Reflection

June 16 holds deep national and pastoral meaning: it is Youth Day in South Africa, a day that commemorates the 1976 Soweto students’ uprising and honors the courage of young people who demanded dignity, education, and justice. For the Catholic community — and especially for Oblate missionaries who serve beside youth in parishes, schools, and townships — this date is an invitation to remember, to listen, and to accompany.

Remembering courage and cost
Youth Day commemorates young people who stood against an unjust system, many paying with their freedom, bodies, or lives. Their witness calls the Church to recall that faith without justice is incomplete. The Gospel compels us to stand with those who are marginalized. In remembering the Soweto movement, we remember young martyrs of conscience and we reaffirm the Church’s preferential option for the poor, especially for youth deprived of educational opportunity, safety, and hope.

Listening to young voices today
Young people today inherit historical wounds and new challenges: unemployment, economic precarity, gender-based violence, drug abuse, and the dislocation of rapid technological change. But they also bring prophecy — creativity, prophetic critique, musical and artistic energy, and a zeal for ethical leadership and social transformation. Oblate ministry that truly accompanies youth begins with patient listening: hearing their stories, anxieties, dreams, and the spiritual questions they dare to ask.
