At Okombahe, the Rössing Foundation is exploring the revival of the Prosopis Harvesting Project – addressing invasive Prosopis while creating opportunities for local livelihoods. The project looks at turning harvested Prosopis into value-added products such as charcoal and wood fuel. For us, sustainable development means finding solutions that benefit both communities and the environment.

The Rössing Foundation, with the support and guidance of the Education Officer, Mrs. Johanna Kazohua, conducted a vacation school programme at the Arandis Centre. The programme focused on improving the reading skills of 24 learners from the two local primary schools while also fostering a strong reading culture among them. The initiative aimed to enhance learners’ literacy competencies , build a reading culture to enhance their overall academic performance and success in school.
